Review: Maximum Exposure by Jenna Byrnes & Jude Mason (The Blackraven Reviews)

Maximum Exposure Jenna Byrnes and Jude Mason
Publisher: Total eBound
Genre: Contemporary/MM
Lenght: Novella

Review Copy Received from Publisher

Summary:

Rob Jenkins is worried. The relationship he’s been in for six years has become a little stale and not very intimate. He loves Max more than anything, but the man’s sexual fetish of ‘doing things’ in public never interested him.

While Max is away at a two-week business conference, Rob concludes that in order to save their relationship, he needs to make some choices. He surprises Max with a weekend visit, and the offer to play a ‘game’. Will the sexy scenarios be enough, or will they merely expose the flaws in their relationship? (m/m)

Cecile Smutty Hussy’s Review:

There is no mistaking this is the awesome work of Jenna Byrnes and Jude Mason! Two of my favorite m/m authors. Even though this is a very short story (under 60 pages), this story will pull at your heart strings and make you cheer on our hero... or hero's...

If you are new to the m/m pool – these are two excellent authors to start out with. You really need to put these two authors on your MUST buy list.

This story touched me with how personal it felt. We are pulled into Rob and Max's world and not let go until the past page. They have been lover's for six years and counting... As we all know from our own personal relationships - after so many years, sometimes we second guess ourselves and the relationship. Well, that is where Rob is. His conscience won't let go of the fact that Max's wants a little more from him. But Rob seems to put up wall every time Max pushes the boundaries. They argue and put just a little more distance in between each other. Or at least that is how Rob sees it.

Rob evaluates how much he truly wants the relationship he has with Max, the love of his life. He makes a decision that could possible blow up in his face... Would you do that for love? Would you call it quits if you were pushed just a little ? Or would you fight for what you truly want – the love of your life?

This is an emotional love story. Jenna and Jude did an awesome job at making me fall in love with Rob and Max. At one point I wanted to hug Rob and tell him all will be okay and at the same time I wanted to slap Max (just once... okay maybe twice). Okay, I can't go on any more or I would give away the story....

So I will leave you with you with this..... What would you risk for love?

Jude Mason and Jenna Byrnes' Blog Tour – Day Five!

Hi everyone! Our blog tour rolls on and we'd like to thank Cecile for hosting us here today. All week long we're talking to readers about our latest project together, book 3 in the Kindred Spirits series, Alex's Appeal, which is available now from Total E-Bound!

Yesterday at P.A. Brown's blog we shared some information about writing this one. Today, we've saved a steamy little excerpt for Cecile and her readers!

Kindred Spirits Book 3: Alex's Appeal

By Jude Mason and Jenna Byrnes

Lawyer Alex Brookfield arrives at Whiskers' Seaside Inn with a big decision weighing heavily on him. He's been offered a judgeship, and while it's an incredible promotion, it would mean leaving the house he shared with his late, long-time partner. Russ died of cancer eight months ago, and although Alex is ready to move on, he isn't sure about such a big, permanent step.

Logan Emerson is the inn's chef, and wouldn't mind cooking up something special with the handsome attorney. He's not concerned about their fourteen year age difference. He just knows what he likes and isn't afraid to go after the hunky bear of a man.

Alex heard stories about the inn's ghosts from its owner, his friend and former lover Ethan Roberts. But he's totally unprepared for the spirit who shows up his first night there. Between futile attempts to fend off the frisky young cook, and his offer to help inn co-owner Cade Wyatt come up with a romantic marriage proposal for Ethan, Alex finds his hands, and his bed, quite full.

Excerpt:

“How about a club sandwich? Ham, turkey and some fresh bacon.” Logan turned around, his arms full of foodstuffs.
Alex’s gaze automatically dropped to the man’s crotch. There wasn’t an erection, but a very nicely shaped bulge outlined in the thin material. He gulped, feeling his own cock thicken and lengthen.
“What do you think? A club sandwich okay?” Logan prodded.
Focus. “Oh, yeah. Sure.”
The cook set the food on the counter and went back for more. “You like the works, tomato, lettuce, mayo?”
Alex shifted from one foot to the other uncomfortably. When he’d entered the kitchen, he had nothing but food on his mind. Logan’s playful teasing had surprised him. Now it was all he could think about.
“Hey, Counsellor, are you with me?”
“What?” Alex shook his head, chasing away seductive images of the sexy stud bent over, grabbing for his ankles. He blinked and stared at the vegetables in Logan’s hands. “Yeah, sure, whatever you think.”
With a soft chuckle, Logan set to work preparing the sandwich. When the timer went off, he removed the cookies from the oven and set them aside to cool.
More bending and stretching. Alex’s eyes were glued to the handsome, lithe man, and all thoughts of distracting himself fled. Might as well humour my libido with a little fantasy.
He moved behind Logan and placed a hand at either side of him on the counter. “You mentioned a little something kinky?”
Logan pressed his back against Alex and exhaled a warm sigh. “Oh, yeah. I was hoping you’d see things my way.”
One of Alex’s fingers traced the edge of the mixing bowl, gathering some of the sticky dough. He circled Logan’s ear, dragging the finger across the lobe and kept right on going over his neck. Alex’s mouth followed, licking and sucking the sugary substance from Logan’s slightly salty skin.
“Mmm,” he murmured, his tongue darting inside the ear and over the lobe. “Tastes good.”
“God, yes.” Logan shuddered as Alex continued his ministrations. “I’d love to paint your cock with the stuff and lick you clean.”
Chuckling, Alex shoved his groin against Logan’s ass. “You’re assuming I have that much patience. I had something different in mind for my cock, like burying it in your sweet, tight ass.”
Logan nodded and groaned at the same time. “Yes, yes. I’m all for that idea, too. There’s oil on the shelf behind you. Not exactly the right stuff, but I’ve found it works in a pinch.”
“Oh, you have?” Alex pressed Logan’s body against the counter, his mouth still savouring every bit of sweetness from the man’s tasty neck. “Do you let many people fuck you in your kitchen after hours?”
“No,” Logan answered quickly. “But I want you to. I’ve wanted it since the minute I laid eyes on you. You’re exactly the kind of man I’ve always dreamed about.”
“You’re the man of my dreams, too, sweet cheeks. Now bend over, and let me get a look at you.”
Logan obliged, clinging to the counter as Alex did the work of lowering his shorts and boxers. Alex dropped to his knees and buried his face between Logan’s ass cheeks.
Warm, firm and tight, exactly what Alex expected. He inhaled the man’s arousing, masculine fragrance before prying the cheeks apart and tasting the rosebud hole. More delicious than anything from a bowl, Alex dipped his tongue deeper and groaned with pleasure when Logan’s sphincter loosened and allowed him in. He tongued the orifice, until his own throbbing cock became too much to ignore.

Review: Willing and Able by Jude Mason, Jenna Byrnes

Phaze Binary Stars: Willing and Able

Co-authored with Jude Mason

Colt Willing never expected to be a key player in a drug-running operation. Before he can get out, he's determined to release the hold the organization has on Jonathan, the man he's grown to love. Jonathan has ties that bind him to drug-lord Nigel Caprice, and breaking the bonds may prove too difficult for Willing to tackle alone.

Detective D.J. Able is determined to bring Caprice to his knees. Backed by his partner, Bryan Stokes, Able and his team are out for justice, and retribution for the loss of one of their own. When push comes to shove, Able discovers that even the best laid plans sometimes go astray, and the men end up in a fight for their very lives. (m/m)

I obtained this information from Ms. Jenna Byrnes webiste!

*~*So, all thoughts and comments regarding this book are solely mine!*~*

I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review...

This story is roughly about 55 pages long... You get two stories in one. So, you are figuring out that each story is about (give or take) about 25 pages a piece. So, I can not give the review I normally I do because I do not want to give away to much of the books.

I do have to say that is was my first book by Jude Mason. For sure, this will not be my last.
These are two awesome writers that have combined their skills together.

In Ms. Jenna's story, Willing, Colt Willing is a man bent on protecting those he loves, no matter what side of the law they are on. What side of the law is Colt on? Being on the wrong side is a very dangerous side to play on... especially when the man you love is working for the top dog of the wrong side. But at what cost would you give of yourself to protect your self or family?
Ms. Jenna's story is very riveting. The drama builds with paragraph you read. Wanting to know what happens will drive you to the end.

A peek into the story..."Heart near bursting, Colt looked into his man’s eyes. The expression he read on the handsome face told him everything he needed to know. “I love you,” he uttered for the first time, and held his breath, waiting for a reaction."

In Ms. Jude's story, well it ties to Ms. Jenna story. These two author play very well together. This is the continuation of the story Ms. Jenna created and sucked us into. This is the story of Willing's ex-partner Detective D.J. Able. With a fallen officer and the clock ticking, how does one man try to make it all balance?Able is a determined man and you will see just how determined he is... Ms. Jude keeps the momentum rolling in this story. You will see how all sides of the law collide and how things get done.

Another peek into Able's story... "Able checked his watch. The man was right. They’d both been on overtime for six hours. Captain wasn’t likely to complain, not under the circumstances, but if they fucked up because they were too tired to think straight, he’d hang them both, by the balls. “Yeah, you’re right. The next shift’ll be glad to take over.”

I commend these ladies for a story well done. The stories complimented each other very well.

Review: Let The Sunshine In by Jenna Byrnes

Let the Sunshine In by Jenna Byrnes
Spring, 1971.
Hippies, peace and love are all the rage in California. But Terri Walker has suffered a miscarriage from which she hasn’t bounced back. She and her husband move to New Orleans hoping for a fresh start. While Scott renovates the stately old home his father bequeathed to them, Terri snoops and is amazed to discover the house has a secret. Some have called it a blessing, and some a curse.
When handsome, hirsute Rafe McAllister comes into their lives, neither Scott nor Terri has any idea how much their world is about to change. Not precisely what they're looking for, Rafe might be exactly what they need. (paranormal, f/m/m)

I obtained the above information from GLBT Bookstore

*~*I did receive this book from Night Owl Romance for the purpose of my honest review.
So, all thoughts and comments regarding this book are solely mine!*~*

I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said....
At close to forty pages, this is one hot book. Ms. Jenna wields the story of three people together so well, that you forget it is a short story. This book has a hint of history, set in the seventies. It has a dash of paranormal that I will not divulge to you. And it has a mixture of menage to make you grin.
We met a couple, a very average couple - Scott and Terri Walker. Surviving the lost of a miscarriage and the death of a parent, they decide to move from California to New Orleans, Louisiana to make a fresh new start. They are a real couple with real issues. They love each other deeply, just not passionately - right now. They have moved into a family home, from Scott's side of the family, that is in need of repair and remodel. Scott is looking for ways to bring back the zest to their marriage.
Meet Rafe McAllister. Dark, mysterious and very intriguing to the Walkers; especially to Scott. The three have a chance meeting a coffee shop one day. Scott is immediately attracted to Rafe, for unknown reasons. Scott has never had a homosexual thought in his life; until that brief encounter with Rafe. Excited at meeting someone new, Rafe has invited himself over for dinner... But Rafe has a mysterious past the Walkers know nothing about. Can his past survive the friendship he hopes to share with the Walkers or will the Walkers run out on him.
This was a wonderful, suspenseful read. We meet a couple, down on their marriage. Holding strong, because that is what you do. But just desiring something, something more, something different. But just how different. I never saw the dash of paranormal Ms. Jenna threw in there. But it lent to the "magical" feel of the book towards the end. And the ending.... aawwww... It was perfect. Another great book by Ms. Jenna.

Review: Slippery When Wet - Never Say Goodbye by Jenna Byrnes

Slippery When Wet
Never Say Goodbye
Jenna Byrnes

Damien is a guy who never caught a break... even when he was born... he was born on the wrong side of tracks.
His mother was a hooker/waitress/drug addict. His father was a alcoholic. So, when Damien was born, he was born a drug addict. Needless to say life was not all peaches and cream. This is a little of how Damien made it: "Let’s just say I used my assets and earned enough money to survive. One of my johns—er, business associates, turned me on to the fine art of breaking and entering. (page 34)"

*~* I did receive this book from Night Owl Romance for the purpose of my honest review.
So, all thoughts and comments regarding this book are solely mine!*~*

Now step back, can you imagine a life like this or even half like this. I don't think so. Yea, it made me want to take Damien and love him until he was sure about himself. To bad women are not his cup of "sex." His self esteem is not all that great, but he knows how to put up a great act. Prison will teach you that.

Let's meet Charles, his john... I mean his business associate... I mean his lover. He is a very wealthy and controlling man. He apprecaites Damien's finer assets. Charles says when, where and how. He controls everything down to where Damien spends the night. The only thing I have to say about Charles is that he is pond scum. Okay, so he might be lower than pond scum. You will see what I mean when you read the book.

Now on the delicious other man... Travis. Oh my gosh, he wrangles horses for a living. A true live cowboy!! And he has the hots for Damien. Charles hires Travis to wrangle his horses. Yea, okay so Charles wanted him to wrangle more than his horses, but Travis saw Charles for his true colors and wanted no part of that. However, Travis is determined to get under Damien's skin like he gets under his.

This book was very suspenseful. I was thinking a sugar daddy theme, but boy was I wrong. Ms. Jenna did a wonderful job of keeping me guessing in this one. I love her writing style. I fall in a love with her characters, yea I know I never have a chance with them, but still, I love'em! The emotion in this book between Travis and Damien was very touching. The part in the barn is my favorite. To see the tender side of Damien, to see that wall come down and his heart open... Oh my gosh - I fell in love!

So the questions remain: Will Damien allow his past to ruin his future? Are risks worth taking? Can a broken man find happiness and love? Pick up this book and you will find out... and under 60 pages... you will find the answers!

Muscles rippled across the handsome cowboy’s back when he hoisted a bale of hay from the back of an old Ford truck, and stacked it in the pasture. Cecilia tried not to stare, but his tanned, sweat-slicked skin was too tantalizing to ignore. She was close enough to see a trickle of perspiration roll off his work-sculpted bicep as a similar one pooled between her breasts.
It’s warmer here than I expected. The brochure for the Lazy J ranch suggested mild spring temperatures, but ever since she’d arrived, Cecilia had been nothing short of hot. The handsome owners of the ranch hadn’t helped matters any. She’d spotted them on her way in. One was tall, at least six-two, with wavy brown hair and eyes of blue steel. The other was a few inches shorter but just as muscular, with shaggy blond hair and ornery, twinkling pale blue eyes.
At first she’d thought they were just ranch hands, but the woman at the front desk had set her straight. Trevor and Matthew owned the Lazy J, and they were brothers. Brothers! She’d kept an eye on the pair for several days, and they continued to look better and better.
Cecilia inhaled the fresh, outdoor air. She kicked a high-heeled foot onto the split-rail fence and enjoyed the view. The dark-haired hunk stacked a few more bales of hay, his back to her.
“Enjoying your stay?” he finally asked.
She glanced around, unsure if he was even talking to her. “Yes,” she replied gingerly.
“Where you from?”
“I, uh—” She thought about the story her best friend had rehearsed with her. A TV actress, in-between shoots, just needing a little time away…Aw, hell! I could never pull that off. Her ex used to tell her she was a horrible liar. That was the one thing in five years he’d probably gotten right. Making things up never felt natural to her. She sighed. “Louisiana, but I’ve never been here before. Somebody told me about this place, and I thought it might be interesting.”
He turned and looked at her. “I reckon you’re right about that. Seems like the last few days, it got a whole lot more interesting.” His gaze traveled down to the tips of the painted toenails sticking out of her shoes, and up again.
Cecilia blushed. “Sherry at the front desk tells me you own the place. So which of the brothers are you, Matthew or Trevor?”
His eyes darkened. “Sherry has too much time on her hands. I’m Trevor. Matt is the scrawny little blond fella you’ve probably seen running around here.”
She laughed. She’d seen plenty of him, and ‘scrawny’ was definitely not an apt description. Even in heels she barely stood five-five, and both men towered over her. “Sorry for the confusion. I guess you two are vastly different.”
“Who’s different?” The blond brother strolled up on her side of the fence.
“You and me.” Trevor made a face at him as he hoisted the last bale. “Like oil and water.”
Matthew rolled his eyes and nudged Cecilia’s elbow. “Yeah, he’s Mister Stick in the Mud, and I like to have a good time. So what about you? An evening out on the town dancing, or is staying in by the fire more your thing?”
A tingle ran down Cecilia’s spine. They both sounded good, but she didn’t want to appear too eager. “I’m, uh, flexible.”
Matthew waggled his brows. “We like flexible.”
“Yeah, we do,” Trevor agreed. “And we both like to eat. Care to join us for dinner tonight? The cook makes one hell of a prime rib.”
“Prime rib?” Matthew scoffed. “She looks more like a woman who appreciates spicier things, like excellent lasagna.” Both men looked at her.
Cecilia’s stomach fluttered as she glanced back and forth between the two men. “I love lasagna, but prime rib is great, too. Like I said, flexible.”
Trevor grinned, exposing a glimpse of pearly white teeth. “There’s that word again. We’ll have to keep that in mind.”
A smile softened the hard edge of his features. Handsome before, now he looked flat-out gorgeous.
Matthew offered her a small salute before turning to walk away. “See you at seven.”
“Seven,” Cecilia repeated, excitement welling. She watched Trevor completing his task then sauntering to the barn.
Dinner with both of them? I’ve died and gone to Heaven. Cecilia’s stomach fluttered as she hurried back to her room. After luxuriating in a warm bath with lavender scented soap, she took her time getting dressed. She often pulled her long, wavy hair into a braid, but tonight she left it loose and flowing to the curve of her back. Her favorite pastel-flowered skirt hit her mid-calf and looked great with a lacy, turquoise tank top. A spritz of her favorite Victoria’s Secret perfume, Heavenly, and she was ready shortly before…six.
Cecilia expelled a frustrated breath toward the ceiling and sat down to wait.
She arrived in the dining room at seven, slightly hot and bothered, but more excited than she’d ever felt in her life. She glanced around, but was disappointed to find neither Trevor nor Matthew at any of the tables.
“One?” The hostess smiled at her brightly.
“Actually, I was meeting—” She couldn’t say their names out loud. Had they been fooling with her, pulling her leg? Why would two handsome hunks like them invite me to dinner? It must have been a joke.
A hand grasped her elbow firmly. “Excuse me.”
Cecilia turned and looked up into Matthew’s concerned eyes. “Hello,” she murmured.
“I’m afraid we’re going to have to take a rain check. One of our mares is foaling and she’s having problems. The vet is on his way, but Trevor won’t leave her.”
Cecilia’s heart sank, but her first concern was for the mare. “Is she okay?”
“She should be. Doc Masters will be here any minute. I should get back out there. Again, I’m really sorry. We’ll reschedule dinner, okay?”
“Of course.” Before she knew what she was saying, Cecilia added, “Can I go with you?”
His eyes widened. “Sure, but I have to warn you, it’ll probably get messy.”
She waved a hand. “I’m a big girl. I love animals. I’d just like to be there.”
Matthew nodded. “Come on.” He led her by the arm outside, and into his waiting Jeep. He drove them quickly to the barn, where another man had also just arrived. “Hey, Doc.”
“Evening, Matt.” The silver-haired vet nodded at Cecilia but didn’t wait around for introductions. He hurried inside, and they followed.
“’Bout time!” Trevor called, kneeling by the downed animal. “We’ve got a nose, but no feet.”
“Could be worse.” The veterinarian rushed to scrub up and get to the mare.
Cecilia stayed back, taking the situation in. Trevor had peeled off his suit coat, but was still in dress slacks and a neat white shirt, open at the collar, sleeves rolled to the elbows. A second man, probably a ranch hand, judging by the look of his jeans and flannel shirt, knelt beside him.
The vet patted the horse’s rump and spoke to her soothingly. “That’s a girl, Dusty. We’ll have your foal out real soon, now. Hang in there, girl.” He manipulated the foal and Cecilia glanced away.
“I can take you back to the house,” Matthew said softly.
“Of course not.” She took a breath and exhaled. “She just looks so sad. Like she’s in a lot of pain.”
“She’ll be fine. Doc here is the best.” He squeezed Cecilia’s shoulder and left his arm there.
His touch felt warm and comforting. She focused on him and her mind wandered, brought back to reality when she heard the accomplished cheers of the men attending the mare.
“It’s a filly!” The doc exclaimed, relief in his voice.
Cecilia marveled at the process, and how each man seemed to know his job. While the vet saw to Dusty, Trevor and the third man took care of the foal, eventually settling her near her mama. Dusty immediately began cleaning her baby, who before long, tried to stand.
“Amazing,” Cecilia whispered in awe.
“It sure it.” Matthew smiled at the horses, then at her.
Trevor wiped his hands on a rag and approached them. “What are you doing here? I figured you’d want a rain check on dinner.”
“And miss this?” Cecilia wiped a tear from the corner of her eye.
Matthew and Trevor exchanged glances. “You like animals?” Trevor asked.
“Of course. I’ve never seen anything quite like this, but yes, I love animals.”
A slow smile spread over his face. “Good to know. Why don’t you two step into my office? I’ll clean up, and join you in a moment.” He motioned to a nearby closed door.
“Come on.” Matthew led her through the door.
Cecilia gasped. Office is an understatement. There was a desk, plus lots more furniture that made the place feel more like an apartment than an office. A table and chairs, and through the next door she spotted a bedroom with a king-sized bed and a mountain of pillows. It was decorated in shades of maroon and blue checks, homey and comfortable.
“Wow!” She looked around.
“Have a seat.” Matthew motioned to an easy chair.
She obliged, and glanced up when Trevor followed them in, drying his hands and unrolling his sleeves. He shut and locked the door behind them. “First, I’d like to thank you for coming here tonight, Cecilia. It meant a lot to us.”
“To me, too.” She surprised herself. Witnessing the birth of the filly had touched her more than she realized.
“Second, I need to level with you. Matt and I aren’t brothers. We let people think that because most of them are more comfortable that way. We’re actually partners.” Trevor watched her face for a reaction.
Cecilia blinked. “Business partners?”
“Lovers,” Matthew told her. “We’ve been together since college, about ten years.”
Disappointment mingled with arousal as she processed the information. Imagining the two of them making love caused a gush of wetness between her thighs. She squeezed them tight, trying to rein herself in. If they’re together, they have no interest in me. Frustration replaced the lusty thoughts she’d been secretly harboring all evening.
Trevor took a step closer and smiled. “You’re probably wondering why we invited you to dinner tonight.”
“Frankly, I am. It’s obviously not for the reasons I was thinking.”
“Don’t be so sure.” Matthew touched her cheek, brushing a lock of hair away from her face.
Trevor sat facing her, their knees almost touching. “Don’t get me wrong—Matt and I are deliriously happy together. We give each other shit, but that’s all part of act. I couldn’t ask for a better partner.”
“Me either.” Matthew batted his long lashes at Trevor.
Cecilia suddenly felt very out of place. “That’s great. I’m happy for you. Maybe I should go.”
“No, wait.” Trevor reached for her hand. “We’ve been talking about this for a while, now. Adding some spice to our relationship. Both of us agreed it would have to be just the right person. It’s taken us a long time to find someone we both considered a good prospect. When you arrived at the ranch, we both felt it, but we didn’t want to scare you off. We’ve been watching you, biding our time, and something interesting happened. We discovered you were watching us, too.”
Her face warmed with her heated blush. “Well, yeah. You’re both so darned good-looking, I couldn’t decide which one I liked better. I never did decide, but didn’t figure it really mattered. I thought it was only a crazy fantasy, nothing that could ever come true.”
“It can, if you want it to.” Matthew cupped her face in his palm. “We think you’re gorgeous, sexy, and a caring, wonderful woman.”
“We definitely do.” Trevor squeezed her fingers. “And we realize this is sudden. You don’t really know us, and we don’t know you. But if you’re open for some fun and exploration, we think the three of us could be in for one hell of a ride.”
Cecilia swooned. Her eyes fluttered and she fought to remain focused.
“Are you all right?” Both men were immediately at her sides, holding her arms.
“I might need to lie down,” she murmured, holding back the grin that threatened to split her face.
“That can be arranged.” Trevor leaned in and kissed her cheek, then whispered into her ear, “And afterwards, we’ll call the cook and have him deliver the dinner we’d been planning. Homemade lasagna and fresh bread.”
Matthew placed a kiss on her opposite cheek and added, “And Crème Brule for dessert. We heard somewhere that was your favorite.”
“Yeah, it is…was.” She glanced from one handsome face to the next, and didn’t even try to tamp down the flood of arousal gushing through her. She slipped an arm around each of their necks. “I suspect I’m going to have some new favorites, very soon.”

Another Never Before Seen Excerpt of Stroke of Luck and Contest with Ms. Jenna Byrnes

Stroke of Luck – Never before seen excerpt #2 by Jenna Byrnes

Steven padded to the kitchen for a cup of coffee. Wearing nothing but boxers, eyes barely open, he carried the mug to the window and sipped from it while looking at the view. Paul’s condo was great, but was that where he’d like to live? He thought about it for a moment. If I could have my choice of living anywhere… He chuckled. Which now, apparently, I can. Where would I choose to live?
Chicago, of course. He wouldn’t mind a little distance but didn’t want to be too far from his family. His mother was alone, Tim and Cheryl were struggling. It didn’t seem like the best time to leave.
So, Chicago. It still left a lot of options. House, condo, apartment? He had no ideas. Never having many options hadn’t prepared him for the freedom he now experienced. He glanced around the empty condo, wondering if it could ever feel like home.
Paul had gone to the office hours ago while Steven had stayed in bed, dozing comfortably off and on. Neither of them had gotten much sleep. His muscles were sore in places he’d never known existed.
What a great feeling! Steven smiled—and jumped when the phone rang. He headed to Paul’s desk, but by the time he got there, the answering machine had picked up.
Paul’s voice sounded smooth and professional. “You have reached 555-1209. Leave a message, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.”
The machine beeped, and the caller said, “Hi, Paul. This is Tony at Beeman Jaguar Sales. I found that XK convertible you were asking about, in black or silver. I could have either one here in two days when you decide. I’ll wait to hear from you. 555—”
Steven tuned out the rest of the call. Paul had been looking at Jaguar convertibles? He already drove a very nice Lincoln. Odd. He glanced down at a stack of papers on Paul’s desk and realised they were bills. He tried to walk away but couldn’t. Like a train wreck, he had to look.
He picked up the stack and leafed through them. Credit cards with balances totalling over thirty-thousand dollars. Steven gulped. A balance due on the Lincoln. Racquet Club dues, a charge account at a pricey men’s store downtown—those were only the top half of the stack. He dropped the papers back where he’d found them and carried his mug into to the kitchen.
Paul either made one hell of a salary or was living beyond his means. The credit card balances led Steven to believe the latter and caused a lump to form in his stomach. He couldn’t believe he’d found this out just as he’d started to get so attached to Paul. The timing of the whole relationship/lottery thing really did suck.

Mini Review, Sexy Excerpt & a Contest for Stroke of Luck by Jenna Byrnes

Stroke of Luck by Jenna Byrnes

Ninety-seven millions dollars is more money than Steven DeLong can even imagine. When he realises he’s won the lottery, he knows he needs advice from a professional, and fast. He calls on an accountant recommended by his brother, unaware the man is the sexiest hunk Steven has ever laid eyes, or anything else, on.

Paul Aspen seems excited by the prospect of helping Steven with his money, and even more excited to get the naïve bartender into bed. When both men come up for air, Steven’s left wondering if Paul is more interested in him or the lottery winnings. In the end, he’s forced to decide whether love or money rules his heart. (m/m)

~ It's out now... February 22, 2010 from Total E-Bound
The above information was obtained from Ms. Jenna's web site.

This is going to be a mini review... Because this book is only about 47 pages long.
Tomorrow Ms. Jenna is gracing my blog to rock the house!!!!!!!!

Would you question a hot guys interest in you if you just won 95 million dollars? That is the predicament that Steven founds himself in. Not looking for love in any particular place, especially not an accounting office, Steven stumbles upon the love of a lifetime... or is just the money talking. Would you play the what if game? Would be able to trust this person's intentions? These are just a few decisions that Steven has to make and fast.

Ms. Jenna also brings Steven's family in the picture. And that is nice because I love the camaraderie between Steven and his brother, Tim. Ms. Jenna made me fall in love with their banter. We meet Tim's wife and their mother. That is another story in itself, lol. What I liked about this book though, was the characters were real. I mean, Steven is a bartender, Tim works construction, the mother's view points of gay is those of people I know. So, this family was a real family unit.

If you want a quickie... this is so the book for you. Ms. Jenna did not disappoint with the smutty man loving - even if the book was a quickie! This was another great book by Ms. Jenna!

I gave you the review as promised....

Now here is never seen before Excerpt of this book!
I have to say Ms. Jenna keeps blowing me away.

Stroke of Luck – Never before seen excerpt #1 by Jenna Byrnes

Steven couldn’t believe his eyes. He’d expected reporters at the lottery office and hadn’t been disappointed. At least a dozen of them milled around, asking questions which he had no answers to yet and snapping pictures. He hadn’t expected to see the same scene playing out in front of his mother’s house.
The driveway was blocked, so he parked on the street and dodged people, cameras and microphones as he made his way to the front door.
“Mr. DeLong! How are you going to spend the money?”
“Are you going to quit your job?”
“Mr. DeLong, is it true a stripper from the place you work picked the winning numbers?”
He got past them and shook his head, holding both hands in the air.
The crowd quieted down.
“I don’t have any comments at this time.” He had to add one more thing in an attempt to squash a foolish rumour before it got started. “And there are no strippers at the place I work. Tony’s is a fine establishment, and Anthony Girding has been great to work for. Whether I continue working there or not, he’s been great.”
He continued up to the house, mentally kicking himself. Two greats—don’t I sound intelligent? Paul had suggested he not make any statements and that was probably one of the reasons why. Neither of them wanted his words to get twisted around, and he really didn’t want to come off sounding like an idiot. ‘Great’ job, genius.
Steven opened the door, slipped inside and leaned against it. “Whew!”
Norma DeLong paced back and forth in her front room. “This is a mess! Can you believe it? How long are they going to stay out there? I’ll need to get my car out Sunday morning to go to church.”
He stepped in front of her and placed his hands on her shoulders so she’d stop pacing. A full head taller than she was, he looked directly at her salt-and-pepper coloured hair, which was messier than her usual prim style. Steven planted a kiss on her forehead. “They’ll be gone by Sunday, Mom. This’ll be big news for a day or two, then it’ll fade. And you can get your car out anytime you want it. Just open the garage door and start backing out. The idiots will either move or get the surprise of their lives. But they’re on your property.”
“I wish they would go,” she murmured nervously, running a hand through her hair. “I didn’t get to the beauty shop this afternoon.”
“You look beautiful to me, Mom. I’ll make sure you get to the shop tomorrow, okay?”
“But my standing appointment is on Thursday. My stylist sees other people on Friday and won’t be able to get me in.”
Steven squeezed her shoulders gently. “Mom. This might not have sunk in yet, but you have choices, now. I’m pretty sure if your stylist has a brain at all, she’ll work you in tomorrow. If she doesn’t, we’ll buy a salon just for you, and you can go whenever the mood strikes. How does that sound?”
Norma appeared confused. “Why would we do that?”
“Because we can.” He let go of her and stepped back. “Ninety-seven million dollars, Mom. I won ninety-seven million dollars.”

Let's Party with Ms. Jenna Byrnes

If you have scoped out my place in the past, you will know I am gettin in some hot m/m lovin'. If you are a regular here, you know that this woman is responsible for popping my m/m cherry!!!
Please help me welcome Ms. Jenna Byrnes to my place! She is here to rock your socks off!!!

This is just a few things about Ms. Jenna:
Jenna Byrnes could use more cabinet space and more hours in a day. She’d fill the kitchen with gadgets her husband purchases off TV and let him cook for her to his heart’s content. She’d breeze through the days adding hours of sleep, and more time for writing the hot, erotic romance she loves to read.

Jenna thinks everyone deserves a happy ending, and loves to provide as many of those as Possible to her gay, lesbian and hetero characters. Her favorite quote, from a pro-gay billboard, is "Be careful who you hate. It may be someone you love."

We are going to do things in threes.
Trust me, there is a method to my madness.
You will see in the days to come.....
Mmmaaaahhhhaaawwww
**insert evil laughter & wicked grin**

Okay, let's get this party started.
Oh, and you might want to make sure you have enough stamina ...
Ms. Jenna will be rocking my place for the next few days....
With prizes for almost everyday!

Okay, question tim... some clean, some smutty!!! Haa haaa!!!!

Ms. Jenna, I want to thank you for coming out to play with us today. It is an honor to have you here!

Thank you, Cecile. You have a fun blog and wonderful readers, so it's a joy to be here.

In three sentences, tell us a little about yourself.

I have a good sense of humor.
I'm quiet but I will try to engage people in conversation rather than just sitting silently.
I'm a chocolate fiend.

What are your three favorite reads?

This varies from time to time. I loved Go Ask Alice by Anonymous when I was a teenager. I love the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling (hard to choose one book!) And for some romantic suspense, Family Secrets by Jamie Hill. I just love that one!

Oh gosh are you kidding me. I remember Go Ask Alice and as creepy as this sounds that was one of my favorite books when I was in my teenage years. It helped me help a lot of my friends out who were "troubled."

In three sentences, tell us about what makes you hot & bothered for your alpha character - one you have created or the ones you read.

Dark hair, three day beard growth and not too full of himself. Must like kids and animals, but not be one of those sappy "we're pregnant" type of guys, I dislike that. Willing to kick some butt in defense of his partner, or allow his partner to do the same for him!

What are three of your favorite sexy words (and "Honey, I'm cleaning" -- coming from hubby does not count, lol!!!)

How about, "No, let me." ?? *G*

What's three of the strangest places you have had your characters have sex? (Told you I was evil!!!)

Under the bleachers at a football game while they were attending their high school reunion (Sweet Reunion, not currently available.) In an elevator (Windfall, available from Silver Publishing.) In a restaurant (Maximum Exposure co-authored with Jude Mason in the Friction anthology from Total E-Bound.)

Wow, under the bleachers while attending their high school reunion. Now you will have me thinking back to my last high school reunion... where were those people!! LMBO!

Okay okay okay.. enough with the questions... Ms. Jenna...

Review: Ocean Breeze, Little Squeeze by Jenna Byrnes

Ocean Breeze, Little Squeeze
by: Jenna Byrnes
Genre: Mystery/Suspense
Length: Novella

Big X, little x, question mark, dot. The child’s rhyme runs through Lucas Sinclair’s mind. He can still feel the light play of his sister’s fingers across his back, dancing along to the words. Unsettling, considering his twin, Laurie, had been abducted fifteen years earlier and never heard from again.

Ocean breeze, little squeeze. In a small, ocean-side cottage that shouldn’t be filled with memories, Lucas attempts to start a new life. It’s harder than he expects to move on. Indications are that Laurie has returned and isn’t the carefree child she used to be.

With a therapist trying to help him, and a private investigator who can’t seem to let go of the past, Lucas confronts his demons. He’s not sure where his sexy next-door neighbor fits in, but Tristan Conner seems to know a lot more than he’s telling. Someone is terrorizing Lucas. Can it really be Laurie—or worse yet, one of the three men he’s come to trust? (Mystery/suspense, m/m)

The above information was obtained from Jenna Byrnes' website.

This book was given to me by Ms Jenna. All she ask is that I keep my thoughts of my own and honest. So, here we go...
((I must remind you all that this is a short story and if you are here enough (at my place), you will know that I do not judge short stories for their briefness.))

This is a very emotional, heart-wrenching story. Lucas Sinclair is trying to reclaim his life. Life has dealt some crappy cards. At a very young age, he lost his twin sister. Then later in life, he lost both of his parents. Life has not been nice for Lucas to say the least. He moves two hours away from his parents home, to the beach. Not to run away, to just regroup.

This book had me on the edge of my seat, not know who Lucas was destined to be with - the therapist Kyle, the private investigator Eli... or his new neighbor Tristan. Will Lucas find the answers he needs to lay at rest his past, will things he uncover in the event to lay at rest on bring turmoil, will he be deemed crazy and insane, or will the men in his life drive him another kind of crazy? Where will Lucas place his trust? Where will Lucas place his heart? Will his heart ever be free of the past?

Questions you say I leave you, answers I leave you not. Am I being mean, never! I will give you this... there is some sweet man loving in this book; enough to make your hussy purr

Ms. Jenna has a way of crafting her words where you will fall in love. Her man loving is awesome. This story was very suspenseful. Ms. Jenna kept me guessing the whole time. Her work speaks for itself. Another great story by her!

My first M/M Book – I am no Longer a Virgin

From the keyboard of E.H>

As you all know recently Cecile decided to take onboard the challenge of dipping her feet into m/m genre waters. Cecile being Cecile does nothing by halves – so I toss her into the deep end.

I started with a short read, that was a winner for me on so many different level. It has audio and visual effects when it came to the smut scene and as Cecile was determine to rip off that virgin badge – I set her the task of finding a quite place, put her head down and give NOTHING BUT TROUBLE by Jenna Byrnes a go.

From there things went downhill – of all the places Cecile chose to read her first m/m book – yup right next to hubby….

(We IM the whole discussion – so you guys have to decipher and make the best of this conversation. I had a blast…)

This was at work – so short and sweet, loads of giggles!!!!

erotichorizon: Hello little grasshopper
cecile.smith75: hey there !! i read one of those books last night.... not the historical one.. the other one

erotichorizon: and how was it.... which one
erotichorizon: ok - any good
cecile.smith75: nothing but trouble
cecile.smith75: omg... at first i have to say that i was a bit.. squeamish at first... but omg it was freaking hot. i fogged up my ereader under the covers it was so hot.

erotichorizon: where was hubby
cecile.smith75: sleeping, lol
cecile.smith75: where else, lol

erotichorizon: you evil - thing... the true mark of a bitch.....
erotichorizon: wait until the man sleeps then you pounce
cecile.smith75: well, some things have never changed. he was sleeping from about 830. hey... he is lucky i did not wake him up!

erotichorizon: you are baddddddd
cecile.smith75: yea well... it was really good

The Book That Did The Deed

Adrian Scott doesn't expect to fall in love with his employer after spending one night with him. Graham Elliott is handsome and exciting, a very wealthy man, not in Adrian 's league. But their night together was intoxicating, and Adrian can't shake the thought of making a life with this older man. As per their arrangement, they have two more nights together. Will that be enough time to convince his boss they belong together, or will the deal prove to be nothing but trouble? (m/m contemporary erotic romance)

(Here’s our final chatter)

erotichorizon: How do you feel now that you have made the leap.
cecile.smith75: Well, very hot ~ just kidding. I feel like I am peeking into someone else's world; like a peeping tom. If that makes sense.

erotichorizon: Ok - Did you have to built yourself up to reading it or did you just jump in?
cecile.smith75: I just jumped in and read it. No build up, no illusions, just straight forward jump.

erotichorizon: what was the most surprising aspect of the scenes for you?
cecile.smith75: In this particular book, Nothing But Trouble, the most surprising thing about it was the emotions that were expressed. I could almost feel the angst of the characters and could feel the passion just the same.

erotichorizon: The M/M aspect of the book - now that you have read it, was it worth.
cecile.smith75: Yea, to find out what everyone was getting all hot and bothered about... oh yep!

erotichorizon: Did you actually read the smut scenes or did you jump them
cecile.smith75: Oh no... No skipping for this virgin... I ploughed through those scenes and then went back and re-read them again. You know, just to make sure I got it. I have to say though, that at first I was a little skirmish about reading them. I hesitated before I got there and had to examine the why did it matter question of gender differences...

erotichorizon: Which bit worked for you - hearing it being describe or actually visualizing it.
cecile.smith75: Hearing/reading it being described. The only part of it I visually pictured was the leading up to the actual act, until about half way through the book, then I started visualizing the act of two people in smut heaven.

erotichorizon: Was it what you expected...
cecile.smith75: No, I really had no expectations going in this. I mean, I have read reviews before, but nothing really prepared me for the actual reading it with my own eyes.

erotichorizon: And?
cecile.smith75: And it kinda took me by surprise ~ surprised that I liked it. It is different, do not get me wrong... but the passion is there, the emotions are there, the smut is there... (not in a bad way), the putting yourself out there is there. The only thing that ever held me back was it was two men. If you know me, I like my men, but normally catering to me. Knowing that it was a m/m book did prepare me for no woman in the HEA or the romance of the book. I guess because it is always thought of as taboo... And like I said, when I first started reading, I was a little skirmish about reading it.

erotichorizon: Do you want to discuss the book or do you want to write a review about.
cecile.smith75: We can discuss the book, if you want too... I know others want to know what I thought of reading my first m/m. So, talking about it with someone "experiences" as you... I think is prefect, lol

erotichorizon: Ok....
erotichorizon: What did you think of the plot?
cecile.smith75: It was almost like a "Pretty Woman" plot. And I absolutely love that movie. So this pulled at my heart strings.
cecile.smith75: I also liked the concept of older man/younger man.
cecile.smith75: Me being the cougar I am, I associated with it, if that makes sense.

erotichorizon: Yup, I thought so as well..... What about the pace of the book?
cecile.smith75: Since it was a short story, I thought the pace was very good. I was never at a point where I wanted to put the down - even for a second. Especially towards the end, omg!

erotichorizon: Ok - Did you have any challenges reading about the physical side of the relationship. Was any part of the love making, as expected, less or more than you expected.
cecile.smith75: At the beginning of the story... I was challenged at the idea of reading about two men having sex together. But once the story kicked off and I started reading, the story unfolded and it was more than just about sex. But when I got to the first sex scene I was tempted to skip it... or skim it, but I pushed forward and read it. I needed to read it and see how I felt and if I did not like it, then I would just skip the rest, but it was okay... the description of the lead up was just as hot as any other sex scene in any other romance book I have read.
erotichorizon: Ok

erotichorizon: And that leads to my next question... what did you think of the emotional aspect of the book?
cecile.smith75: Well done. All of the emotion one hussy wants in her romance novels were there. I could feel the "let down," I could feel the hard time Elliot had about coming out. But the storyline of His (I forgot the younger guys name, hold on) was wonderful. I felt for the poor guy. The story was real, the emotions were real. It was something in a m/f relationship I could see happening.

erotichorizon: There was a moral issue there - How do you feel about how the author dealt with that..
cecile.smith75: I liked that. It was very touching. I don't want to give to much away because I think this would be a great book for those virgins out there... But the moral issues was dealt with, with class. And the family issue for Adrian was very well played and I like how that was handled. Showed Adrian had more strength than he thought he had.
erotichorizon: Well said my dear.

erotichorizon: Did the length of the book suit the story.
cecile.smith75: For it being my first time, yea. Really, I would like to have seen more between Elliot and Adrian, but the pace of the book was prefect for this size of the book.

erotichorizon: anything else you want to mention about your first experience with m/m...
cecile.smith75: The power of the emotions surprised me. For the good. I was not sure what to expect of the book... or how I would come away feeling, but I do know it was a hot read.

erotichorizon: With m/m book there is a misconception that the story would be different because it has male protags doing the nasties.. What would you say?
cecile.smith75: no, i think it has to do with how you view m/m books. I mean at first I was hesitate about reading those books because I did not know if I would be able to handle the reading of two males being involved with each other . But as I read the chapter and I saw the human side of the emotion. Now don't get me wrong, I want my woman involved in any relationship, but for m/m, it is not going to be everyone's cup of tea. Those that will want to read it have to be easy, carefree about what they read and remember they are reading it because they want a story.... And if they get uncomfortable, close the book.

erotichorizon: now that you have had a few days to read and simmer - How do you feel now about waiting so long to try m/m
cecile.smith75: Crazy, romance is romance. The taboo of reading it is still in the air, like I said... I feel like I am peeping tom. But I will be back for more - soon - very soon! I guess I can see how some would still say it has a ick factor to it, but really - it is fantasy land...

erotichorizon: I'll leave it there and when you are finished a few more books - I'll ask you the same question again.
cecile.smith75: okay...

Cecile's Final thoughts

cecile.smith75: My cherry has been popped and popped by the best... Erotic lead me to the perfect book to be broken in. This book was a treat to read - it really was. The character's relationship was believable and their life situations was one on a real basis. My heart went out to Adrian and his situation and I so fell in love with him. It was short and smutty enough for me to be welcomed into the world of m/m... but I still wanna be in the middle, haa haa!!! Smut here I come....

Erotic Review OF NOTHING BUT TROUBLE

“I want you to spend the night with me. I’ll pay you ten thousand dollars.”

Those were not the words Adrian Scott expected to hear when he is called into the office of the owner of the casino where he works. Although he has always been attracted to the man, and despite the fact that he has a girlfriend and is definitely out of his league, he genuinely did not think the boss played with the boys as well.

Graham Elliott, owner of the Graham’s Aces casino, has one secret, and that’s his attraction to men. He hides it so well that not even the men he eventually approaches are aware he is into men. When he makes a proposition to one of the casino staff, the last thing he expects is for trouble to follow in his wake.

When Graham does what he normally does and propositions Adrian for a set amount of nights for an agreed amount of money, it all sounds tawdry and tasteless. However, the author has humanized Graham with his care and respect for Adrian’s situation so that you easily forgive him for how he starts the relationship.

Adrian is consistent in his values and true to his sexuality, irrespective of how he goes about dealing with life's challenges and changes. He is a character you can’t help loving and genuinely wish the best for.

NOTHING BUT TROUBLE is a great outing by Jenna Byrnes; the wealth of emotions that is condensed in this short story definitely highlights this author as a superb storyteller.
