*Guest Post & Giveaway* A Challenge with L.A. Witt

Today, I am happy to say that I have turned the Lair over to Ms. Witt...  She is here to challenge those that have not tried to read a m/m book. I know you all have followed me through my reading journey since I have started reading... I read everything.. Okay, maybe not everything, but I read almost everything... So, it was with great joy that I took Ms. Witt's request to come over to my place and issue this great challenge to my followers...
Let's welcome Ms. L.A. Witt

It's been said that the only romance readers who don't like gay romance are the ones who haven't read it yet. Hyperbole, of course; not everything is everyone's cup of tea.  That said, at some point in time, those of us who read gay romance... didn't. We all started somewhere. A lot of people are starting right now, with JR Ward's newest book, Lover At Last, which sold out in record time at a virtual signing.

So, I'm challenging you, the reader who has never read gay romance or any male/male fiction to give it a try.  (And if you're already an M/M reader, stick with me. Stuff here for you too.)

The best part? You get to do it for free.  And this isn't one of those "it's totally free, but once you read the fine print you'll find out it's totally not, and then you're going to be paying out the nose forever and ever and getting phone calls from telemarketers at 9:00 on Sunday night until the end of time."  None of that nonsense. I will include a brief survey with your book, but it will be 100% optional and I will never ever bug you about it. Pinky swear.

You comment, you get a book, and that's it.

Maybe you'll like it. Maybe you won't. Maybe you'll decide it's not your cup of tea, or maybe you will discover a brand new genre. But you'll never know unless you try!
And just to make things even more fun, everyone who enters is also entered into a drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card. Because seriously, who doesn't want a $25 Amazon gift card?

But what if I already read gay romance?  You can still enter the drawing for the gift card! All you have to do is refer a friend who's never read the genre. Just make sure they mention you in their comment, and you're all set.
So go on -- give it a try! You might like it!  I've collected a TON of books by some of the most amazing authors in the M/M genre, with a mix of everything from short stories to doorstop novels, contemporary romances to erotic horror to fantasy. Something for everyone, but hurry, because they're going to get snapped up FAST!

Review: Quid Pro Quo by L.A. Witt & Aleksandr Voinov *Riptide Publishing*

Genre: Erotica
eBook ISBN: 978-1-937551-89-6
eBook release: Jan 7 2013
Print ISBN: 978-1-937551-90-2
Print release: Jan 7 2013
Word count: 10,000
Page count: ~35

For the past six months, Jared’s been selling sex at Market Garden, a London club that caters to the better-off. But business is slow in the run-up to Christmas, when businessmen and bankers are too busy bickering over bonuses to rent themselves a little high-class action.
Though Jared’s wallet finds the downtime unnerving, the rest of him rather enjoys the opportunity it gives him to admire Tristan, an old hand in the club whose reputation usually sees him well-booked. Jared has been crushing on Tristan for months—he’s no more immune to Tristan’s cockiness and confidence than the johns, and those are just Tristan’s inner qualities.
Just as Jared’s about to chat Tristan up, a businessman asks for something a little different: he wants to book them both. They agree—and Jared finds himself going from crush to mind-bending lust as he’s made the pawn in a sexual power game. Tristan shows him how a pro handles a john while delivering the top-shelf sex for which the Market Garden is so rightly renowned.

I received this book from Riptide for my honest thoughts... So here we go... Oh wait.. First.... Let me say this again.... My only warning is that this is a m/m loving story. So, if this is not your cup of tea... You will not offend me. You can merely just drop by to say Hi! Thanks for coming over in advance!

For those of you that know me... and those that don't this is my little statement about short books.... I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review..

First, let me say that these are two amazing authors and to see them coming together to write this one hot, short story is a delicious treat! L.A. Witt knows how to make her men raw and passionate... Aleksandr know how to torture you and his men at the same time. Cleaver damn authors! They love killing you! Yes, that's love in my voice for these two. They are wicked, I'm telling you. Wicked to the core and with this short story. They will leave you feeling tingles and seeking your own Jared and Tristan, lol.

Jared and Tristan are rent boys and damn well worth every freaking penny you have to give and some you have to steal.. Hell, I'm willing to beg, barter and steal, to have these two on my bed! Yes, they are that hot together!

If you want a little afternoon delight, you must get this story! It is hot, wicked, even funny in some spots and even torturous! Well done you two!

Oh and if you want to see me beg, go search my twitter tweets because L.A. Witt teased me to death about more to come... I will spank her to death if her and Alek don't give me more of these two!! They deserve to each other - privately! ;)

************* OMG*************

I am so happy to say that there is another one in the making!!!

Ladies & Gents of the Lair, I am very pleased to announce that L.A. Witt & Daniel Harding have made a trip to the Lair today.... And Daniel... is well.. quite interesting!

Welcome to the Riptide Publishing/L. A. Witt blog tour for Something New Under the Sun, the sequel to my vampire/cyberpunk novella, A Chip In His Shoulder!

Every comment on this blog tour enters you in a drawing for a choice of two eBooks off my backlist (excluding Something New Under the Sun) and a $10 Riptide Publishing store credit. Entries close at midnight, Eastern time, on January 27th, and winners will be announced on January 28th.  Contest is NOT restricted to U.S. entries.

Interview with Daniel Harding

Me: So today, I’m visiting with Daniel Harding, one of the two main characters from A Chip In His Shoulder and the brand new sequel, Something New Under the Sun. Daniel, it’s good to see you again.

Daniel: I’d say the feeling is mutual, but… no.

Me: Oh. Um. Okay, then. *cough* Tell us a little bit—

Daniel: Actually, I have a bit of a bone to pick with you.

Me: I see. *glances warily at camera* All right. Go ahead.

Daniel: *sitting back, folding his arms* So first you sent my ex-boyfriend to come and kill me.

Me: Well, technically that wasn’t me, that was—

Daniel: Whatever helps you sleep at night, lady. Anyway, so first you sent my ex to kill me. And I can kind of get over that because of how it ended, but still, that wasn’t cool. So after you did that, was it really necessary to for Liam’s newest mod to—

Me: SHHHH! No spoilers, you twit.

Daniel: *raising eyebrow* Twit? Really?

Me: Yeah. Can’t swear in an interview. And that goes for you too, just so you know.

Daniel: Well [censored] that.

Me: *exasperated sigh*  You know, I did let you and Liam get a little freakier in the sequel. Doesn’t that count for something?

Daniel: Of course it does. That’s the only reason I didn’t bring Liam with me.

Me: Oh. Did he, um, was he planning to come with you?

Daniel: Yes. And he wasn’t going to play nice, believe me.

Me: *gulps* I appreciate you leaving him at home.

Daniel: *narrowing eyes* I almost didn’t. I mean, seriously. In book 2, when you had my dad come along and—

Me: What did I just say about spoilers? Hmm?

Daniel: And what did I just say about bringing Liam along? Because I can still call him.

Me: No! Please don’t. No. No. Bad idea. No Liam.

Daniel: That’s what I thought. Now as I was saying, I know we put my dad in a corner, and he wanted to break out the big guns, but that was just low having him—

Me: Okay fine. Bring Liam in. No spoilers, damn it.

Daniel: …

Me: …

Door: *opens*

Liam: I think it’s time we have a little chat. *looks at camera* Turn that thing off.  I said turn it off. Now.

Cameraman: Hey! Hey! Leave my camera alone, you—

L.A. Witt is an abnormal M/M romance writer currently living in the glamorous and ultra-futuristic metropolis of Omaha, Nebraska, with her husband, two cats, and a disembodied penguin brain that communicates with her telepathically. In addition to writing smut and disturbing the locals, L.A. is said to be working with the US government to perfect a genetic modification that will allow humans to survive indefinitely on Corn Pops and beef jerky. This is all a cover, though, as her primary leisure activity is hunting down her arch nemesis, erotica author Lauren Gallagher, who is also said to be lurking somewhere in Omaha.
L. A.’s backlist is available on her website, and updates (as well as random thoughts and the odd snarky comment) can be found on her blog or on Twitter (@GallagherWitt).

SOMETHING NEW UNDER THE SUN Blurb:

Liam Lansing is heir to a prominent family of bio-modified vampires. That is, until he chooses the wrong lover and is cast down to the Gutter to scrape for his life.
Daniel Harding is heir to Cybernetix and a prince of the corporate Sky. That is, until his ideology drives his father to put a price on his head, forcing him into the Gutter.
But Daniel and Liam won’t vanish meekly into the smog. Together, they plan to rip open the hidden corruption that runs the Sky—for vengeance, for justice, and for hope. They strike against the corporations in a daring raid. When everything goes wrong, Daniel must betray his core beliefs to save the man he loves and protect his dangerous secret. Only through courage in the face of death—or worse—might he and Liam change the world they live in and create something new under the sun.
Something New Under the Sun is available January 21st from Riptide Publishing. Also available: the prequel, A Chip In His Shoulder.

Review: A Chip In His Shoulder by L.A. Witt *Riptide Publishing*

A Chip In His Shoulder
L.A. Witt

“Contract killer” is a fitting job for a vampire, and it suits Liam just fine. Cast down from the wealth and status of the Sky for taking a human lover, Liam lurks in the poor and pollution-choked Gutter, killing to survive. Between his natural strengths and his Cybernetix mods, no mark has ever escaped him.

Liam’s ex-lover Daniel is the heir to Cybernetix—and its greatest threat. Horrified by people less man than machine and the exploitation of Gutter factory workers, he’d rather destroy Cybernetix than inherit it . . . if his father doesn’t destroy him first.

Years of anger and a heap of mods have kept Daniel and Liam apart. When Liam is hired to slaughter a man in his glass Sky tower, he walks right into a Daniel-shaped trap. Daniel’s father has betrayed them both, and only by working together can Daniel and Liam survive the coming day. They have no reason to trust each other, but as the dawn looms, a bargain that began with the simple urge to live soon reminds them of the love they once shared. Can they find each other again, or will the Cybernetix assassins find them first?

I obtained the above information from Riptide Publishing website.

So with that said.... here is my review...

Also, I will leave you with the warning that this is a m/m book/review. If m/m is not your cup of tea... or if you are not sure this fits in your comfort zone, you will not offend me if you if you just stop by to say Hi and maybe say Hi to Ms. Witt! Now... let's get started!

I was given this book for my honest thoughts... So, here goes!

In the writing world, I am a new reader of Ms. Witt's work. I have seen her work here and there but I never took the dive into reading her work. I am not sure why... but I am here to say that I have rectified that. Being this is my first story by Ms. Witt, it took me a few short minutes to fall into this world. It was not hard... just a little mind setting change I needed to do. I am not sure if this would fall under sci-fy or not.... but the lingo was what I had to get use to. But after adjusting myself with that, this book was great! I love how she used her characters to the best of their abilities... They were so descriptive, but not to a point where it was too much. She threw me in a world of bleak, ominous, treacherous, thievery, and deceit. But she brought me out with a tale of two men facing the worst adversary they could possibly face ~ each other.

Liam is a vampire... But not just any ol' vampire... Oh no, he has been modified more times than a rebuilt mustang. He is okay with all of the latest technology built into his body, seriously. It gives him the edge he needs to do his job. Killing. Sorry, don't mean to break your heart... he is what he is. But he does redeem himself with his latest assignment. He actually does more than redeem himself, hell, he almost dies for this assignment. Just when you think love doesn't mean anything... It proves you wrong. Or at least it does for Liam!

Daniel on the other hand, is a rich, spoiled man. He lives above all the poverty and disgust of what the world has become. But what most people don't know is that even though he might appear spoiled and living in the world of luxury... He is also plotting something that will help those less fortunate. But Daniel knows it is only a matter of days before his time expires... He knows that his Dad knows he knows to much ~ against him. But Daniel was a little surprised at who his Dad would get to go after him.... His ex-lover of all people. But is the old saying true... If you love something and you let it go... If it comes back, it was meant to be... Even if it was sent to kill you... Well... Let's find out shall we!

This is a great book. The adventure, the lies, the deception, the hurt, Ms. Witt gave it all to me in a little package. She made the story just right. I enjoyed the whole story in about a day, it was just that good. It amazed me, it shocked me, but most of all... it made me fall in love. These two characters came together when really... the odds were stacked against them. This was an intriguing tale of lies and betrayal. But the main thing to remember is love always knows how to bring back what was truly meant to be... But I will promise that you will laugh at these two. They truly do make a great pair! Especially when Daniel shot Liam!!! Never would have saw that coming!! HA... that alone will make you want to read the book!!!

Ms. Witt, you did an awesome job at bringing me in a world that I am use to and making me fall in love with it... So much so, that I just know that you are giving us more of Liam and Daniel taking on the upper world... Right?!?!?

Also, if you want to drop by Ms. Witt's website, please go here...
I warn you... She has two personalities!! =) Which is always a good thing! Enjoy!

Giveaway & Guest Post by L.A. Witt for Riptide

What is the most interesting thing you have learned from your research? Well, I spent an entire
day driving around Okinawa to make notes for the setting of Conduct Unbecoming. Not the
most exciting thing in the world, I suppose, but it was fun.

Where do you get the names for your characters? Sometimes they just come to me (I’ll
be looking at the picture I intend to use for the character, and the name just sort
of…happens), other times it involves a lot of flipping through baby name books and
swearing.

What does your family think of you writing erotica? My folks and my husband are 100%
supportive. My mom buys and reads all my books. The extended family runs the gamut
between curious and disgusted.

What would you tell a reader reluctant to read erotica? Try it, you might like it.

What role do you think toys play in sex? Well, I can’t really imagine what Legos would add
to the experience…

Do you think food has a place in sex? Did someone order a pizza?

What do you think of role play? Okay, I am clearly a nerd, because my first thought here was
to make a joke about D&D. Though, that could be fun, if you think about it. “Roll to see if
I’m going to get your pants off.”

What’s your favorite ménage trios: M/M/F, M/F/F, M/M/M, or F/F/F? I don’t think I could
pick one over the others. There’s so many possibilities for each, especially when you start
bringing kink, bisexuality, etc., into play. The sky’s the limit. I’ve written M/M/F and M/
F/M (the difference being in the latter arrangement, the boys don’t get involved with each
other), plus M/M/M, but I’m sure I’ll write some F/F/F or M/F/F eventually. Just need to
find the right story.

What do you think of orgies? Obviously I’m a writer, because my first thought was “Oh,
God, the pronouns…” Threesomes are enough to nearly make me go cross-eyed keeping
the pronouns straight. Any more than three? Pardon me, I need to go find some aspirin…

What’s the spiciest thing you can think of right now? A habanero sandwich. … What??

What do you enjoy the most about being a writer? Everything. This is what I’ve always
wanted to do, and I freaking love it. I wouldn’t say I love every minute – this career has its
moments like any other – but there has never been a point where I thought, “Should I be
doing something else?”

What do you find the most challenging about being a writer? Knowing when to stop. I am
finally starting to learn the earliest signs of burn-out, and I can also see a pattern (it
happens every 500,000 words or so), which means I can take steps to avoid it before I
really, truly hit the wall. That doesn’t stop me from hitting the wall, but no one ever said I
was a fast learner.

What genre(s) do you write and why? Erotic romance. I love playing with relationships, and
the effects of both sex and love on people (as individuals or in terms of relationships) is
endlessly fascinating. And I write various subgenres—steampunk, cyberpunk, paranormal,
kink, ménage, etc—to mix it up a bit.

What's the one thing you wished you had known about the publishing world before you got
into the biz? Everyone warned me time and again about how it felt to be rejected. No one
mentioned bad reviews. That…took some getting used to.

Are you a plotter or pantser? A little of both. I used to outline in great detail, though my
outlines were flexible and frequently changed. More recently, I have very, very vague
outlines, mostly so I can keep track when I start writing out of sequence (I never write a
book from start to finish, it’s always in scattered fragments). In fact, when I wrote my
vamp/were ménage, The Given & The Taken, I got about four chapters into it and canned
the entire outline. The characters kept hijacking the story, and I finally just decided to
run with it. So, I’d say I’m mostly a plotter, but edging more towards pantser as time goes
on. Whether I outline strictly or loosely, though, I live by one rule: If the characters and
outline disagree, the characters always win. So far, that hasn’t failed me.

Do you have any other hobbies that you enjoy? Photography, hiking, causing mischief and
mayhem.

What’s the one thing readers can always count on when they pick up a book written by you?
There will be snark, and there will be sex. Beyond that, it’s anyone’s guess.

If you could be any mythical/fantasy creature what would you be and why? Probably a
gryphon. Nobody messes with a damned gryphon. I mean, seriously. Everyone might be
all, “we own this joint” and “that’s right, we’re in charge”, but then a gryphon shows up,
and suddenly everyone’s all, “no, no, that’s cool, we were just leaving.” (random bit of
trivia: I have a gryphon tattooed on my leg)

What do you think is sexy? Cockiness without arrogance and men without shirts.

Is there anything you'd like to tell your readers? Jimmy Hoffa is buried behind the mill.

AND Here's a blurb from Chip in His Shoulder, my new release from Riptide Publishing:
