Review: Twisted Up by Lissa Matthews

Twisted Up
Lissa Matthews

One rope. Three days. And two hearts on the line.

Justin has had enough. Ella, the woman who healed his broken heart, has been cancelling on him for two months straight. Sure, she’s busy with her job, which has her traveling far and wide. But that never stopped her from sharing nights of trivia, long conversations and blazing hot sex—until now. Truth to tell, he misses their easy friendship, the way her sighs fill his ear as he fills her body.

What he can’t figure out is, what’s changed?

At work, Ella finds it easy to talk to rooms full of strangers. Once back at her lonely apartment, though, she’s back to her painfully shy self—until Justin. Their chance meeting grew over the months into a year-long affair, but she can’t shake the feeling that rejection and pain are just around the corner. Best thing to do? End it now, before their intimacy digs too deep.

Suddenly he’s at her door with a length of neon-green rope and a naughty proposition, daring her to say no. Just how good could it be? There’s only one way to find out…

Warning: The sheets are tangled, the hat is crumpled, and the jeans are worn low on the hips. The cowboy is hot, determined, and helpless in the face of bunny slippers. Readers may need extra batteries to get this one out of their system.

I obtained the above information from Ms. Lissa's website!

I would normally put up my warning of the book being short, but this book comes in around 186 pages... So, my warning kinda stands where I do not want you to judge this book based on the length but on the writing!

I was given this book for my honest thoughts and opinion, so here goes!

Ms. Lissa is one of my favorite authors, so I was tickled when she asked me to read this one! Her writing, to me, is just so captivating and allows me to escape from time to time into a story of love, lust, passion and some hot sexing! And of course the cover just made me drool that much more! =) Hey, who doesn't want their own cowboy! Ella was no different...

Ella thought she could, I guess, make her self immune to the southern boy charm of Justin... But every girl has a secret hot spot for some southern drawl hospitality. Ella is a woman after my own heart. She really wants Justin, but she was trying to be practical about their relationship... She just came out of a divorce... So really, who wants a woman who is just coming from a broken relationship. But she sees that Justin tries to rope her in... And she allows it. But for how long would he want her is her question.... She is older than him and he may just want someone else that would light his fire! But Ella slowly realizes that her heart has already spoken before her mind even processed it... She wanted him.... All of him to herself...

Justin is a man that makes me smile just thinking about him. A Texas boy through and through. His southern charm is not lost on me... In fact, it endears me to him. Well... Endear might be to much of a romantic word... When I think of Justin.... I do think romance, but I also think of being tied up and teased and pleased! This is one man who finally realizes what he wants in life - Ella - and he doesn't plan on letting her push him aside no matter what it takes. He is willing to take his chance and tie her up and maybe even spank her a few times for her to realize just how much he wants her!

This is an awesome story! One that will leave you... Well, let's just say that it will leave you wanting to find your own cowboy and trying a few new things! These two heat up the sheets as much as they heat each other up! They are a great couple and we have all been in either of their shoes at one point in our lives... They are meant to be together whether one wants to see it right away or not... Ms. Lissa did a great job of making me want to knock some sense into Ella to see what is right in front of her... Justin is a man on a mission and he will not leave until he accomplishes what he has set out to do... And that is he WANTS Ella!
Let's see if he gets what he truly wants.... Ella Twisted Up!

Review: All She Wants For Christmas Is Her Dom by Stacey Kennedy

All She Wants For Christmas Is Her Dom
Book Three of
1 Night Stand Novel

Madame Eve’s 1NightStand service has brought together Blake and Taryn on a cold Christmas Eve at the Castillo Lodge. The two will set out on an adventure of pain and pleasure surrounded by Alaskan snow-capped mountains and nestled in a warm country lodge. But as the night develops, Taryn discovers it’s not Christmas presents that will surprise her but instead the very man who mastered her through a night of intense BDSM.

WARNING — This book has intense BDSM that some might find objectionable. If you don’t enjoy some serious spanking, rough play, and the use of floggers, among other toys, this story is not for you.

I obtained the above information from Ms. Kennedy Book Section.

For those of you that know me... and those that don't this is my little statement about short books.... I do not     judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review... I was given this book for my honest thoughts... So let's go..

I am becoming a serious fan of Ms. Kennedy. She is one talented writer. Her stories leave me wanting more,  desiring more actually. She captures you from the first word till the last one. She creates a world of which one's fantasies can come out to play....

And with this series... 1 Night Stand, it really has been a treat to watch the stories unfold. Madame Eve is one hell'va woman who knows just what a person (woman or man) needs... and desires! Ms. Kennedy has created a series that will sure to flip a switch and spank you silly! =)

Now as the warning declares... This is a story of some BDSM... Spanking and flogging is not optional. If you are not a fan of those few things, you will not hurt my feelings by just saying Hi and wishing Ms. Stacey well. One day, you may be seeking to be spanked! But until that times come... Let me get on with this review!

Which I also have to warn you that this will be a short one because this is a short book! Now what I love about this story though is that it is a story of fantasies coming true and old love finding its way back together. Taryn seeks the help of Madame Eve to find her a Dom for Christmas. Taryn wants to give her "ass" over to someone to do as they wish, but she has a list of certain requirements for Madame E. Can Madame E to fill her Christmas wish...

Taryn was all set and ready to meet her Dom... She was sure he was the one. His voice sent shrives up and down her spine. His scent went straight to her... Well... You get the idea. He was what she desired... Who she wanted to please. And when the night was over... She was begging for more... But it wasn't until her Dom took off her blindfolds did she realize she had more than she bargained for.  Taryn was finally going to find out if she truly was going to get all she wanted for Christmas.... Her Dom.

This is a story that will leave you wanting to find your own Dom (or be your own Dom). It is short, but I enjoyed the whole story. To see Taryn get her wish come true is... Well.. delightfully naughty! I hope you enjoy the story as much as I did! It truly is a magical story! Spankings and all!

Two-for-Review: Pretty Monsters - Josh of the Damned #1 by Andrea Speed // First Watch by Peter Hansen

Pretty Monsters:
Josh of the Damned #1

Josh Caplan is your average late-night convenience store clerk, but the Quik-Mart where he works is nothing like normal with that hell vortex in the parking lot. Waiting on zombies, demons, and other things that go bump in the night might scare some, but they're actually more polite than the stoners, and Josh welcomes the break in the monotony—especially when he acquires himself a sexy new boyfriend with a deadly secret.

Will Josh survive this retail nightmare? It's a Big Gulp of a chance, but between the hazard pay and the hottie with a sweet tooth for Josh's candy, it's a chance he's willing to take.

I obtained the above information from Goodreads.

I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review..

I received this book for my honest thoughts and words... So here goes!

This story comes in at 15 pages and it is leading towards a very intriguing series to come...
Andrea Speed is a new to me author, and I have to say I love her sense of writing. Even though this was short story... She had me wanting know what if Hot Guy was going to make Josh's night?! Josh has seen some unsightly monsters that you only thought go bump in your nightmares... But what Josh didn't realize was there are truly some Pretty Monsters out there. And I'm going to mean and say you will have to read this one for yourself to find out just what kind of Pretty Monsters are out there and what exactly do they want with Josh!!

Now, I know I didn't say it earlier, but this is a m/m book.... But it hasn't gotten THAT hot yet.... So, if you want to dip your feet in slowly, this would be a good book to do just that.

First Watch by Peter HansenFirst Watch
Peter Hansen

What price would you pay to survive?
Do you want to live? In the darkness of a WWI battlefield, young Legionnaire Edouard Montreuil lies dying. As teeth nibble his flesh, a voice whispers, Do you want to live? Frightened and desperate, Edouard bargains his freedom for a second chance.

Aboard the Flèche, a grim submarine captained by the nightmare who granted Edouard new life, Edouard pays the price for his survival. Each night, he gives his body to his captain as the bells sound first watch. But surviving is not living, and as the days stretch into months beneath the waves, Edouard grows desperate for escape.

Can Edouard’s old comrade Farid Ruiz help him break this devil's bargain, or will Ruiz fall to the same fate, trapped beneath the waves at the mercy of a monster whose hunger knows no bounds? Edouard and Ruiz served together once before, and slept together too, but courage and passion failed to save them from the eldritch beasts who roamed the night. This time, the cost of failure is nothing so clean or simple as death, and the spoils of victory are not just life, but love.

I obtained the above information from Riptide Publishing website.

I will start off by saying that Peter Hansen is a new to me author. I have not read any of his work. This book was on the side of sci-fi for me; which, I normally do not read. So, I will say that I am stepping out of my comfort zone to read this one. I do not believe in giving a low review because of that fact... So, I will keep my review short as it was not my cup of reading.

The story itself was intriguing. Edouard made a deal with the devil, or should I say Sea-Devil. The deal cost Edouard more that just his life.... Trying to escape hell is never easy, and sometimes the weak just don't cut it. Edouard knew he could not face hell alone... So, he recruited Ruiz... A friend, lover of pasts long ago... It was nice to see the relationship between Edouard and Ruiz came alive again. But at what price did they have to pay to achieve it.

I will not give away the story, but it was the sci-fi that left me feeling a bit out of odds with the story. But again, I will state that this was just not for me. It was a very good story though.

Please go take a look at Peter's website!

Review: Demon Bait #1 by Moira Rogers

Cover Image
Demon Bait
Book One of - Children of the Undying

Fifty years after a demon apocalypse devastated the world, summoners still bear the bulk of the blame. Marci lives in secret, hiding the gifts that could cost her a secure spot in one of humanity's underground cities, and access to their virtual world. After all, her chances of avoiding the genetic-testing lotto are better than her chances of surviving topside.

The bastard son of a terrifying incubus, lust heats Gabe's blood and sex fuels his magic. Innate charm and charisma help him navigate the cultural gap between the outcast town he calls home and the human settlements he infiltrates for trade. His latest mission nets him an unexpected asset--a summoner strong enough to soothe his darkest needs.

Trust a half demon, especially one who uses a lockdown to trap them together? Not in this lifetime. Yet Marci can't resist Gabe's offer to see her safely to a selective outcast settlement where she can live without fear. The journey alone is as dangerous as the way Gabe makes her heart race, but it could be her one hope of a real life.

If only she could be sure Gabe's telling her the whole truth...

I obtained the above information from Ms. Moira's website!

I was given this book for my honest thoughts, so let's get started shall we....

This is kinda a short story... And if you know me, you know the drill. I do not judge books bases on size of the story...

Ms. Moira is a very talented author and she is one of my favorites. So, when I was asked to review Demon Bait, I was excited... but then...I noticed it was on the side of Sci-Fi and that is not my particularly favorite genre... But, I knew that as far as my reading has gone so far, Ms. Moira has NOT disappointed me... So, I knew I had to read this no matter what. I will start off my saying that Ms. Moira can make me want to escape into her world any day of the week! She is just that great.

Now that I have said that this is Sci-Fi, I will tell you that this is a great book. It is not so Sci-Fi that you will get lost in the world of which you read. It will also not bore you to death. This is an interesting and very intriguing story...

Things sometimes are not what they appear to be and you will find out that "people" are not always what they say they are. Marci lives in a world where she has to pretend or at least blend in with the humans in order to survive... But she is not quite human... She has the blood of a summoners running within her body. And in her world it is getting more difficult by the day to blend in with the humans... But when one man shows up and offers her salvation... Does she accept it knowing that the life she knows will change forever... Or does she stay where she is and live on borrowed time. But when Gabe shows up and offers her the freedom she has always sought after, does she take him up on the offer or tell him to take a hike!

Gabe recognizes what Marci is right off the bat and the magic that lives within him stirs.... The basic need to protect her at all cost may eventually cost him the one thing that his soul has wanted... A woman who is worth fighting for.

This truly is a great story between two people who eventually have to decide if what they feel is real or magic... If you want to find out what happen to Marci and Gabe, you will just have to pick up the book! Because believe me, their little journey is worth the read! I hope you enjoy! And I can't wait for book two to come out! I would love to see more of Trip! =)

If you would like learn more about Ms. Rogers and her world within worlds...

Review: Dark Soul #1 by Aleksandr Voinov

Picture

"Dark Soul #1" (2011, Riptide Publishing)

Stefano Marino is a made man, a happily married west coast mafia boss who travels east to await the death of a family patriarch. All the old hands have gathered—of course sharks will circle when there’s blood in the water—but it’s a new hand that draws Stefano’s eye.

Silvio “the Barracuda” Spadaro is protetto and heir to retired consigliere Gianbattista Falchi, and a made man in his own right. Among his underworld family, being gay is a capital crime, but the hypersexual—and pansexual—young killer has never much cared for rules. The only orders he follows are Battista’s, whether on the killing field or on his knees, eagerly submissive at Battista’s feet.

But Silvio has needs Battista can’t fill, and he’s cast his black-eyed gaze on Stefano. A fake break-in, an even faker attack, and Silvio is exactly where he wants to be: strung up at Stefano’s mercy, driving the older Mafioso toward urges he’s spent his whole life repressing. Stefano resists, but when the Russian mob invades his territory and forces him to seek aid, Gianbattista’s price brings Stefano face to face once more with Silvio—and his darkest desires.

Aleksandr Voinov is a new author to me and I was quite shocked at how much this book intrigued me. I will be looking for the next book... If you were here for the interview done at my place, then you know it is coming! Oh, before I get going here... This is a m/m book. I think your know the drill for those genre's... No feelings hurt if this is not your cup of loving. Just say hi! But if you enjoy the m/m world of loving, let's continue...

Stefano Marino is a man on a mission... A man needing help to fight a war he is not sure he will win. And the one man that can help him has his own private war he is fighting. Silvio is one man you want on your side... but it may be a dark one.

Stefano is a married man with a hidden desire. A desire that has stayed buried for so long and so deep that Stefano was not sure he still had those desires... Until one man with eyes as black the darkest soul tempted him.... Or at least try to tempt him.

This is the beginning of a tale that has all the right ingredients of being a very explosive story. Two men with their own war brewing will be forced together and the way this ends... Well, let's just say that Aleksandr wrote a story that will leave you hanging till the last word. This truly is an intriguing story, one that has many twist and turns. A story that will keep you in suspense of what will come next. ((I do have one little issue with one scene... If you are a m/m fan, then you know what happens in the sex scenes. I'm good with that but in this one scene it was done with an object that didn't quite sit well with me. I understood the underlying meaning of the why's and how's, but it doesn't mean I had enjoy it but I got it and moved on. Please let me say that it didn't compromise the story at all!!! It brought a level of guilt and drama to the story.)) Put that aside and this is one book that will fire you up, get you asking questions and wanting to see what will happen next! I believe Aleksandr has built this up so that I am begging for he next one!! And I can't wait for the next one!
