Review: The Princess's Bride by KT Grant

The Princess's Bride
(The Pirates of Flaudia#1)

Daisy de Fleurre, an exiled princess from a faraway land, longs for true love. She almost experienced it at the tender age of eighteen, when she and her servant Chelsey, engaged in a smoldering love affair for one brief summer before they were both separated forever. Eight years later, Daisy is now engaged to a man who wants to offer her the world. But Daisy still longs for the woman she has never forgotten...

The dastardly lady pirate C.W. Dread, lives for revenge against Lord Humphrey, the man who murdered her family. She will kidnap Humphrey's fiancee, hold her for ransom, and introduce her to the delights of the flesh. Then her revenge will be complete! But Dread is in for a shock when her prisoner is a blast from her past who she once adored deep down to her very core...
Danger, adventure and passion are only a few things in store for this lady pirate and her princess as they succumb to a lust for one another that can no longer be denied or contained...

I was given this book for my honest thoughts!

For those of you that know me... and those that don't this is my little statement about short books.... I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review...

This is a f/f love story, so if a little f/f loving is not your cup of tea, please know you will not offend me if you just drop by to say hi! But if this is your kinda loving... keep reading! =) Thanks

I am not new to the works of Ms. KT Grant, she is a very talented woman. Her work - which I love her f/f work - is very detailed and thorough and invigorating. She writes the f/f so well, that you know without a doubt that it is truly female loving females. Chelsey and Daisy's story is rich with details.

Daisy is a princess... Or was a princess. Her family had been run out of their country and her family had to find refuge in any welcoming country that would take them in. Still above the simple people because of their bloodline, they still had servants and maids and stable workers. Her lifestyle was of high quality and leisure things... She had all she ever wanted, all she could have... but the one thing that she desired the most was forbidden to her because of what others would think... She wanted a person that Daisy knew in her heart and soul was meant to be for her even though she had never been with a woman... Daisy knew that her passion would lie with Chelsey... Would Chelsey feel the same way...

Chelsey was a few years older than Daisy... but that did not stop Chelsey from doing the bidding of Princess Daisy. She would do anything for that woman. The things you will see Chelsey go through is not a far cry from what a woman of today sometimes has to go through in order to survive. She is a tough but loving woman who only wants the best for the one thing in life that matters the most to her... Daisy.

There will come exploration, their will come giggles and happiness. There will come new sensations, there will come heartache and longing... There will come depression... and more heartache... But the most you will get out of this will be the love that two women share to overcome things that most would have just bowed out.

These two will go through things that make you think they will never find each other again... That their love is a hopeless cause... The longing that Daisy goes through, makes you wonder is it worth it... Then when it all comes together... You will find yourself cheering for the outcome!!!

Now, this is an amazing tale of two women and what they have to go through in order to find their happiness at the end of the story... But I have to put one thing in my review...

There is this one part in the story that was a hiccup for me. See, Daisy felt as if Chelsey was never going to come back for her (you will have to read the story for that reason), she actually thought she was possibly dead. So, with her one true love not coming back.... She took up the proposal from one of the most sort after men of her region... Mr. Humphrey. He is not a nice man. He wants many things, but actual love from or for Daisy is not on list... Her money is. He is a true scoundrel. With that said thought... there is one part in the story, just a line... He has sent his head servant, Stephen to fetch the new maid so he can ease his longing (if you know what I mean).... And Stephens lets us know that the maid he is sent to fetch - is fourteen. That was a little upsetting to me... but I will redeem this by saying that I am thinking that KT did this for a reason - to make me hate Humphrey even more. He comes across as this Mr Wonderful and Charming man when really he is lower than pond scum to me. KT did a great job of allowing my feelings of hate come out for him... SO much so that I wish he caught a disease that would make his pecker fall off! Ha! That would have been a justice to the mankind of women all around! Now, I don't want that to discourage you from reading the story... because that part of the story never went any further than that line, but you are to assume that it was going to happen. Now another thing I want you to remember is the timeline of this story because that might have been deemed "what you did to keep a job" kinda thing.... It does achieve a goal for me... Hating Humphrey even more!

Now I will leave you with the next books in this series! And believe me, I was so glad to see that Daisy's brother and Chelsey first mate, Mister Martin, have their own story... because believe me, the chemistry between these two is in your face and I sooooooooo want to see where that goes! Then she has created another story on Daisy & Chelsey! So, get on board The Lady Desire and see where this story takes you!

  14. First off I want to say great blog! I had a quick question in which I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your thoughts prior to writing. I have had a tough time clearing my thoughts in getting my ideas out. I do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or hints? Kudos!
