Review: Lancelot's Lady by Cherish D'Angelo

LANCELOT'S LADY
RELEASE DATE: SEPTEMBER 27, 2010
A Bahamas holiday from dying billionaire JT Lance, a man with a dark secret, leads palliative nurse Rhianna McLeod to Jonathan, a man with his own troubled past, and Rhianna finds herself drawn to the handsome recluse, while unbeknownst to her, someone with a horrific plan is hunting her down.

I have received this book from the author for an honest review. So the thoughts are solely mine and mine alone.

This is an amazing journey of three people who by the events from their past - all came together under one roof... at some point in time. Ms. D'Angelo did an awesome job at keeping me guessing as to how they were all tied together. I applaud her for being very cunning in her writing skills. But another reason I applaud her - is for her ability to make me fall in love with almost each and every character. Each one brought something unique to them to the table.

Rhianna's parents were killed in a hit and run the night she was born. Or you could say that the accident causes Rhianna's birth. Losing both parents puts Rhianna in the care of others right from the start of her life. First it is her aunt and uncle. Then as twisted as fate could get... they were involved in an accident as well... That left Rhianna in foster care. Even that was okay until.... she was placed with Mr. and Mrs. Waverley. That is when her own private hell started. Once you read and find out for yourself what happened, you will understand why it was hell and why she ran away. Now a beautiful, grown woman, Rhianna leaves everything behind in Maine to take a job being offered to her in Miami, Florida. She works as a palliative nurse.

JT is dying. He knows he was a bastard in his younger days. He is trying to right the wrongs while he still has time. But with the lapse of memory loss every now and then, it makes it kinda hard. Even though we learn of some really rotten things JT did in the past, you will see a fragile, hurting old man when you see the way Rhianna looks at him. And your heart will go out to him. Like Rhianna - when you first meet JT you will be kinda smitten with the old man, as you would your father or grandfather. He literally tracked Rhianna down to be his private nurse. Money could buy him a whole hospital full of help - but for some reason, he wants Rhianna. Once allowed into his home and his heart - Rhianna feels at home, at peace.. safe and loved. JT becomes more than her patient.... But will JT's past destroy Rhianna's peace? Will the secrets he holds crush not only the hopes and dreams of others - but family and love?

Jonathan likes - no scratch that... he LOVES his privacy. He has closed himself and his daughter, Misty, off on his own private island. Yeah, you heard me right... His.Own.Private.Island. (Where do I sign up to be his wife?) Misty is Jonathan's whole world - well except for his painting. Which has proved to be a very successful source of income. Misty's mother on the other hand... Jonathan's ex-wife is no longer in the picture. If I told you their story - you would want to find her and beat the crap out of her. Really! Let's just say that she left them for bigger and better things - in her opinion. So, she gave Jonathan full custody of Misty.

Now normally I don't do stories with children in them because for me that just deals to close to home. But Ms. D'Angelo did an excellent job of warming my heart and soul up for Misty. Misty is not like most seven year old girls ~ she has a condition. And we know just how much a handful a normal little girl can be... now imagine if teachers gave up on trying to teach or help, if they said she was difficult, stubborn and/or temperamental. Yeah, I would not have the best disposition either if that was the case. But once she meets Rhianna... things kinda go a different way.

We actually have four people who are either looking for love, closure, hope, faith, forgiveness and/or understanding. The internal struggles are rough to witness because they are so raw, powerful and just plain real. This truly is a romantic story with a lot of heartache. This story even comes with its own Knight in Shining.... well.. a boat okay! Yeah, I will make you read this one. Oh wait, before I am done - I will tell you this ride is not all pleasant - nope. There are parts of this book that left me with the chills cuz it was just that bad... yeah.

Wanna know more... I thought so.... Hee hee, yeah I am evil like that! But trust me, you will not be disappointed with this story!!!!

  8. "We actually have four people who are either looking for love, closure, hope, faith, forgiveness and/or understanding."

Ah, the beauty of subplots. I think it is the ability to weave these kinds of separate stories into one larger one that really makes an author.

    Compelling review.
