Cover Model Interview w/Jason Aaron Baca

The Lair wants to welcome a guest that I am not sure the Lair will be able to contain...
We have in the Lair with us a cover model...
So, please let's offer a warm *hot* welcome for...
Jason Aaron Baca!!

Welcome Jason, I hope you are comfortable...
Shall we get started..

Why don't you tell us a little about yourself.... Something that we cannot Google about you, lol!

Well what you can't find on google these days about me will be difficult to answer. I think just about everything is on that search these days. . Besides the fact that I am a down to earth guy that enjoys his family. He is reserved and often stays quiet when there is a conflict over something. More the passive type of guy I'd guess you'd call me.

Since you are a new cover model to me, I am hoping to bring you to the light of others! So share away!

While I might be new to you or some of the other authors, I'm no stranger to this world. I've been modeling since1997. It wasn't until late 2005 that I did my first book cover though.

How many covers have you been on?

I'm currently at #82 but I believe there may be a few more out there that I haven't seen where they used my stock photos.

Favorite cover you're on?

N.J.Walter's Novel - Legacy Found

Is there a place where someone can get a hold of photos that weren't used on your shoots for their independent covers?

Yes, there is a database at this link http://www.theauthorsredroom.com/stock-photography/jason-baca/

What's the average day like when you're at a cover shoot?

Well I make it an event that day. I don't like the word average so I become extremely involved and gripped about this book cover I'm planning to shoot that day. I build myself up so much that I feel like the king of the world by the time I step into a studio. I make sure to give myself an adaquet spa treatment at my suite the morning of the shoot. I apply an ice pack to the face for 10 minutes, then after I apply a facial masque. The one I use right now is a clay Avocado & Oatmeal masque. I leave that on for 20 minutes then enter the shower. In the shower I begin with Olay's Spa Exfoliating Ribbons body wash plus. After I rinse that I use Tree Hut's Shea Body Wash which moisturizes and surrounds my senses with the rich, delicious scent of Shea Butter Extract. Finally for the body I use botanical fusion "restore" body wash which hydrates the skin while also brings advanced skincare into the shower.

For my face I use Clean & Clear's morning burst followed by and exfoliating deep clean cleanser then finally a moisturizing beauty bar which will add moisture to my skin. After toweling off I consume 16oz of pure spring water with freshly sliced cucumber. Then I apply Olay's Quench Plus Age Defying Body Lotion then over that I rub on Dermasil's Original Flavor Dry Skin Treatment which will control severe dry skin. For the face I use Gillette's Intense Cooling Lotion followed by L'Oreal's anti-dark circle eye moisturizer then Dermitage's Anti-Wrinkle Eye Serum for around the sides of the eyes. Then Garnier's Daily regenerating serum, then moisturizer, then The Body Shop's Face Protector which is a soothing daily defence against environmental aggressors.

Is there a place online where we can see the covers all together?

Absolutely but not ALL of them are on here - http://jasonaaronbaca.deviantart.com/gallery/29805178 The actual list is available at http://www.romancetreasure.com

What's your favorite music and tv show?

My favorite music is Genesis. Songs like In Too Deep and Land of Confusion grip me. I also enjoy that 80s song "For Tonight" by
Nancy Martinez.. Oh and Denise Williams "Let's Hear It For The Boy" My favorite reality TV show now is this Jersey Shore. Man they have attitudes that I love to watch!

Do you like to read?

Of course I do. I think reading is great because it forces you to use your head. Watching a tv show requires no concentration, they do all the work for you. With reading, you need to pull
out your real brain and begin to focus is you want to get anything out of it.

What's your favorite book?

Arnold Schwarzenegger's Encyclopedia. In this book he holds the tools that I needed to be successful in romance novels. Not just with the lifting weights stuff but about having the right mental attitude. He teaches you how to be a champion and how the best think.

Do you have a web site?

Yes, there are a few out there. The website to book me through my mgmt is http://www.hmmodels.com/model.asp?modelID=395 The website where people can see my photos, etc is http://jasonaaronbaca.deviantart.com

When you're not working what do you like to do for fun?

Fun? What does that word mean again? I am all work no play these days it seems. If I could have fun though, you'd still end up finding me at either a gym or at a hike somewhere or possibly a swimming pool doing some laps.

3 things you never leave the house without?

Chapstick, Daily Anti-Aging Moisturizer, & Big Red Chewing Gum (Because fresh breath is a priority in my life.)

Besides modelling, are you an actor or writer?

Writer - Kind of , Actor- Hmm not really. For the writing I wrote 2 books designed to help models with their careers (Journey of a Male Model,2004 & Overexposed (2007)
As for acting, I'm a terrible actor I found out. I can do the action stuff, its the talking that I can't do. haha.. Maybe they will have to create a voiceover for me.

Can you tell us an embarrassing moment while on a cover shoot?

I haven't had TOO many but I know one time I walked into a studio all macho thinking I was the best. They wanted me to be seated on a Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Well, I went to go get on this thing and didn't realize how heavy it was. I couldn't control it and lost my coordination and the bike slammed down. The owner of the bike that had brought it on set was not too happy about this and I didn't want to get on his bad side either. This bike was the love of his life. Lucky for me there was a lot of people in the studio and security
which kept him from ruining my modeling career.

Have you ever been recognized on the street by fans? If yes,What was that like?

Yes sure.. Not every single day but yes. It depends where I'm at though. If I'm at a airport or mall then I get a lot of people looking at me like "Hey I know that guy" but then they can't figure out from what. Or Some WILL figure it out and be like "Jason Baca" and come up and shake my hand. I don't know them so it can be a little scary when they know you but you
don't know them. I understand it more now though.

What are you currently working on?

Right now I just got off from 4 shoots that they did for Exercise & Health Magazine and Men's Workout Magazine. They often ask for workout routines using me as their fitness model.
I'm also going to be shooting for a number of other book covers. Stay tuned for that.

Okay.... personal time!!!! Oh yeah, I go there... Hahah... If you thought you were safe... Nah... Forgot it... Not a chance! We will start off slow and easy, I promise!

Soundscapes Station on Xfinity Cable The song is called "Wash Over Me" and is a piano melody. This next song that is now playing is called "Moonlit Dreams" which is also quite enchanting.

What are you reading right now?
Currently I'm reading a book called "Creative Imagery" how to visualize with all 5 senses by William Fezler.

What is your favorite season? Holiday?
Favorite season is winter. I like when I am all in a good mood while everyone else is depressed! My favorite holiday is Columbus Day because its all good that day... You can't go wrong if you don't get anyone anything that day... And if you forget to say "Happy Columbus Day" you won't pi$$ anyone off.

What is your guilty pleasure?
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Mr.Goodbar Chocolate. Yes, If a person tempts me with them, I usually give in and take the bait!

Hard and Quick Time! Don't think... Just answer! Okay, before we go this route, I will get us a refill on our drinks... I will be right back...

You know you do... Quickie time... Think fast....

Are you a quickie kind guy?
Nope, I am a slow steady kind of person.

Whipped is always the safer of the two. So I choose Melted!

Hon, I hope you are doing well! Things are moving fast these days, and the days get away to soon. Hope all is working out for the kiddo and work. We've been having crazy warm, then chilled, weather here. Kid is enjoying track for his first year in it, and it makes it easier for me some as he's a pick-up on my way home from work. But the nights still go somewhere. lol
