Randor
is a Fae assassin. As the most feared military officer in the Faery Realm, he
only got out by striking a deal with the late King to become an assassin for
hire. Something he was only able to do because of his place as adopted family
member. When he’s ordered to kidnap the Unseelie Faery Princess and deliver her
to the Seelie Queen, he doesn’t think twice, until he sees his target. Adora.
Unseelie Princess. Most beautiful being in existence and feared witch warrior
and his soul mate. Disobeying orders is something he’s never done before. But
when he brings her into the Human Realm; his home, he has no regrets. Until his
Elvish friend, Kiel, disapproves and an unexpected attack raises questions about
his loyalties. The only way that could have happened was if Kiel tipped off the
Queen's witch, Maleficent.
Adora was fearless, powerful and intensely
unhappy. Until she was kidnapped by a mysterious stranger, who happens to be
her half human, half Seelie soul mate. After being attacked, Adora, fearing
she'd lose Randor, admits her feelings for her soul mate. The two of them just
need to find a way they can survive together - away from the feuding kingdoms.
Entering the Seelie castle, under a pretense of needing the witch's help to
bind Adora's immense power, they ask for Maleficent, whom they plan to
eliminate so she can no longer track them.
When all hell breaks loose, they're
involved in a fight including the witch, Kiel and the Queen. A fight that not
all of them will survive.

Hey ladies and gents of the Lair, I am very pleased to say that Ms. White decided to sit down with us for a while an answer some very.... delicious questions....
Let's put together a warm, hussy welcome for Ms. White!
Tell us a little about your book?
How much emotion does it take from you to write?
A LOT. When I’m writing a physical fight scene, or sex scene, it’s not quite so much, but when I’m writing an emotional fight scene, discovering the background of a character or a depressing moment, it really takes a toll on me. Having a mental illness just magnifies what I’m feeling at the time of writing, so it can sometimes take a few hours to come out of my funk.
Since we're cover hussies....what was your first impression of your cover?
My jaw literally dropped and my eyes went wide. I was in love with it instantly. When I imagined the cover, it was exactly what I’d imagined. I have no idea how I got so lucky to have a cover artist who apparently read my mind!
Okay.... personal time!!!! Oh yeah, I go there... Hahah...
If you thought you were safe... Nah... Forgot it... Not a chance! We will start off slow and easy, I promise!
What is on your night stand/dresser?
Uhhh a hole lot of junk. I have an iPod dock I haven’t used in over a year, medication, jewellery, my work badge, Christmas earrings I wore last year and a couple of photos.
Hard and Quick Time! Don't think... Just answer! Okay, before we go this route, I will get us a refill on our drinks... I will be right back...
You know you do... Quickie time... Think fast....

Let's put together a warm, hussy welcome for Ms. White!
Why don't you tell us a little about
yourself.... Something that we cannot Google about you, lol!
Hi there! My name’s
Liia Ann White – that’s actually my birth name. I’m the oldest of three
children, with two brothers – one a soon to be podiatrist, the other an AFL
footballer (professional Aussie Rules player for those who don’t know). My
parents have been married for 37 years, got married at 17 and 18 and it’s their
fault I’m such a believer in romance and soulmates!
Tell us a little about your book?
Dark Waters is a
fantasy romance filled with smoking smex scenes and feisty fight scenes.
Basically is follows the war between the Seelie and Unseelie Fae, focusing on
Adora, the Unseelie Princess and Randor, an unaligned assassin sent to kidnap
her by the Seelie Queen. But when he sees her, he realizes he can’t turn her
into the Queen… Insert ‘dun dun dun’ here J

What is your favorite part of the book?
The hot spring scene… I won’t say anything more ;)
The hot spring scene… I won’t say anything more ;)
You can only pick 3 words for your main
characters..what would they be? *to describe your main characters*
Adora – Beautiful, strong, tired.
Randor – Powerful, fearless, broken.
Which was the easiest character to write and the
hardest ~ and why??
Adora was the easiest because there’s a lot of myself in her. She puts on a brave front even when she’s broken inside. She’s sarcastic and doesn’t trust anyone but she’s also incredibly loyal and loving. Kiel, a secondary character was quite difficult because he’s an out right liar. He claims to have loyalties to one side, but lies to them. He’s Randor’s best friend, but definitely doesn’t act like it. Writing his scenes and manipulating them actually took quite a bit of work.

How many books are you shooting for in this
series??
Three. Of course, if some other characters decide to rear their heads and ask for a book they might get a spinoff, but three for the main series.

What are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on book 2 for this series,
an erotic contemporary short and I’m reworking a young adult that I’ve written.
But the priority is getting book 2 of the Waterlands series done – it’s just
plain old fun to write!
Do you have anything due to release soon?
Not yet. My life the way it is means I have very little time to write, but when I do I write big chunks of work at a time.

What's one thing that you enjoy about writing?
That I get to do what I love and have it published and out there in the world for others to read. I also love that I can live out fantasies that I otherwise wouldn’t. The majority of my characters are paranormal or extraordinary mainly for that reason J

What do you prefer ebooks or paperbacks?
I love both but have to say I prefer ebooks. It’s SO nice to be able to buy with one click then thirty seconds later have that book on my Kindle to read. But there’s nothing like having a physical book to open, smell that paper scent and actually hold it in your hands. As you can see, I’m a bit of a fence sitter!

Is there a genre you would like to write but are
a little apprehensive to try?
I’d love to write a horror novel but don’t think I have the voice to do it. I’ve got plenty of material, with nightmares and night terrors that I have, but I wouldn’t have the voice for it. Maybe one day I’ll co-write something. That’d be cool.

What are you listening to you right now?
The new Fall Out Boy and Paramore singles; they’re two of my favourite bands and I can’t get enough of them.

A Wolf’s Tender by Gem Sivad and I’m absolutely loving it, as I do everything she writes.

What is your favorite season? Holiday?
Favourite season is autumn because it’s not quite cold but definitely not as hot as summer. Favourite holiday would have to be Christmas time, purely because my brother comes home, all my family gets together and it’s just a lot of fun.

And what has been your best b-day present ever??
For my 17th birthday, I got a brand new Mitsubishi Lancer from my parents. I still have it to this day and she drives like a dream. Nothing could beat that present J

“Lady Adora Belira, Princess of
the Seelie Court, daughter of King Polara, and future ruler of the Water
Lands.”
As the kingdom’s attendant
announced her arrival in the court, Adora rolled her eyes. Stating her entire
title each time she entered the room was so ridiculous and unnecessary. But
Father had always been a stickler for rules. He was one of the last remaining
old-school faeries, insisting his lands follow the ancient laws laid down by
the Originals.
Adora had never followed the
rules. Her mother was the enforcer of the family. Since she’d died, Adora had
used her father’s obliviousness to her advantage and rebelled against him and
the kingdom at every chance she got.
Father looked down at her
clothing with a frown. She preferred to wear combat gear, consisting of a
skin-tight top, pants, and versatile boots. The rest of the kingdom would
prefer she conform and dress in something more fitting for a princess, a
flowing gown that had no practical use whatsoever. She was a healer for the
army. She needed to be prepared for anything.
“I do wish you’d wear something
Kilip has prepared for you, even if only when dining in the court.” Father
spoke with a slight wheeze.
“And I do wish you’d see someone
about that cough you have,” she told him, sticking out her chin stubbornly.
“It’s getting worse, Father.”
Adora sat by his side at the head
of the royal dining table. Several heads turned and people gasped when she
spoke to the king
with a tone of disrespect. Once
again, she rolled her eyes. She’d been doing a lot of that lately.
“Mind your business,” Adora
snapped at the gawkers. All of them looked down and focused on their own
conversations.

ReplyDeleteThe names in your book are so unusual. How do you go about choosing them--people and place names? Your own name, Liia, is also unusual. Is it a family name? What does it mean?
ReplyDeletecatherinelee100 at gmail dot com
Adora and Randor are characters from He-Man & She-Ra (my fave cartoon as a kid & now).
DeleteLiia is apparently Baltic. It doesn't exist according to databases and baby name books. My parents actually got it from an ex colleague of my Dad's. Her name was Liia too (pronounced the same) so they stole it haha
Thanks for having me today! It was a fun interview :)
