How can you plan for the future when
escaping the past seems impossible?
After over a year together, Connor
Morrison and Wes Martin decide to tie the knot. But an ethics complaint
regarding their deeply non-traditional relationship threatens Connor’s job and
Wes’s Ph.D. The fact that Connor tried to keep it from Wes—even with the best
of intentions—makes the situation even worse and casts a pall over their plans
for a Christmas wedding in New York.
It doesn’t help that Connor still
treats Wes like glass, though Wes insists he’s recovered from the brutal
assault he suffered a year and a half earlier. Wes may be okay, but Connor
isn’t. Memories of taking a battered, terrified Wes to the emergency room that
night still haunt him, and he can’t let go of the need to protect Wes from any
and everything life might throw at him.
But Wes has had enough. Between the
specter of the ethics complaint and Connor’s overprotectiveness, he’s already
beginning to question their plans. Add in a family ashamed of and angered by
his choices, and Wes might just leave Connor standing at the altar.
(Publisher's note: This title is a sequel
to Priceless. For maximum enjoyment, we highly recommend
reading Priceless first.)
I obtained the above information from Riptide.
Just a little warning, if the cover did not tip you off or the genre listing did not tip you off, this is a m/m book. If this is not your cup of tea, you will not offend me if you just drop by to say hi and move on... Know that one I am hoping to change your mind! :)
For those of you that know me... and those that don't this is my little statement about short books.... I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review...
I have to say that I highly agree with Riptide that you kinda should read Priceless first. I am a person that had to read things in order, but for this series - you kinda have to. Ms. Cat does an awesome job of not making you feel lost because she does capture the story... but to know the details that make this story what is and truly appreciate it... you need to read Priceless. Buttt..... if you have read Priceless, then you will definitely want to pick this one up as well.
Connor is a man of great intelligence but when it comes to his partner, he can be a little daft. He needs to protect is overriding his need to just love. Connor wants to make sure that Wes always feels safe with him and never in harm but wanting to spank his ass is giving Connor nightmares... He is scared of what that would do to Wes (you have to read book one to find out what happened with that, really sad, but Connor was there for him) but he should be scared of losing Wes. Connor is the one that needs to get over and let go of what happened and move on... Then his job... Well, that is another issue that is weighing heavy on Connor... But keeping things from him partner is not a good idea... Can Connor overcome everything and just learn to let go and love... Because Wes is his world... What happens if his world disappears...?
Wes... I just want to take him and love him. He has been through hell and back but he is determined to make Connor see that loving him will not kill him... Actually the opposite is kinda true... Not being able to love his partner may be the death of him. Wes is trying to figure out how to convince Connor to love him with a hard hand without scaring him. Even though it should be Wes that's scared of a hard hand... Wes just wants his Connor back... The one that loves him with a raw passion and doesn't hide things from him... But what can Wes do to make Connor see... They are getting married... Or are they. Wes can't imagine his life without Connor but without his love and support what good is a marriage....
The tension is thick, the love is thicker... But can Connor realize what he is doing before it is too late. Wes is his world and it is about to slip though his fingers if he is not careful... This story will keep you on your toes and make you want to slap the crap out of some freaking arrogant people. Connor and Wes are an adorable couple, but feelings get hurt and pride gets dinged.. Can these two make it to their wedding... or will there be a divorce before a marriage? I hope you take the journey with Connor and Wes to see how they grow...
