Holiday Jinx
by Abbey MacInnis

Back Cover Blurb:

Jinx—one of Santa’s elves—is in trouble with the Big Guy. She’s
been charged with bringing holiday happiness to Christopher Ragan,
CEO of Wonderous Toys. It’s a big job especially when he’s more
attached to the bottom of a bottle than helping his fellow man.
She’s got enough trouble without spilling the secrets of the North
Pole, but then along comes Natalie Burnes, a newbie CEO of Enchanted
Toys and in trouble of a hostile takeover from Christopher’s
company. The woman literally crashes Christopher’s vacation
plans in a tucked away Michigan cabin—and the sparks start
flying.

As if Jinx’s job of matchmaking the toy makers isn’t hard enough,
she’s got to stay one step ahead of the North Pole patrol and keep out of sight of the humans. No
way is she gonna screw up and lose her magic again. If the humans can’t find happiness and love
by Christmas, Jinx forfeits her chance of seeing her true love too. What’s an elf to do?

Thank you to my host for inviting me here today. I’m so happy to be here!

The holidays not only bring to mind for me fun, quality time with my family, but even as an adult, there’s still magic in the air. Though my latest release, Holiday Jinx has a serious tone to it where my hero and hero are concerned, there is a bit of fantasy in the mix too with the intervention of Jinx the elf.

I thought I’d give you a list of five fun holiday elements found in Holiday Jinx. Here we go!

5. Toys… Whether you’re a child or grownup, there’s something awesome about finding your favorite toy under the Christmas tree. Both my hero, Chris and hero, Natalie are CEOs of successful toy companies. Chris loves the handmade toys Natalie’s company produces. Many events that shaped his life up to the start of the book involve those toys. Now that he has the chance to take over her company, he’s not backing down.

4. Snowball fights and snow angels…The holidays wouldn’t be the holidays without snow, at least for me anyway. I loved when as a kid, I’d have a snow day and I’d go outside and play, and make snowballs and snow angels. What’s not fun about romance? I mean really, you have to stay warm somehow. LOL Or should I say my hh do. Heh.

3. Santa Clause and his elves…I know, that’s usually kid’s stuff, but I had so much fun writing Jinx’s character and Santa Clause too. What if Santa wasn’t’ as cheerful and cuddly as you thought? What if he had a meaner side? Think about it. What if Santa and his elves weren’t here to simply deliver gifts on Christmas morning, but to play matchmakers as well? Alternatively, the elves more specifically? Chris has much to lose if he doesn’t get his stuff together, mainly his company. Santa would have much to lose too. In addition, think of what Chris and Natalie could do if they joined forces in bringing happiness to billions of children worldwide by uniting their companies? Then there’s Jinx. She has much to lose if she doesn’t make them fall in love, mainly her freedom. Fun, right?

2. Jinx the elf…She deserves her own place on the list. *g* What would you do if you came upon a naked, hot man standing in the hallway of the cabin you rented for the holiday weekend? Not to mention there are piles of tinsel on the floor from Jinx’s candy cane gun. Did I forget to mention she’s a bit clumsy? Would you think you’re going crazy if you hear bells and someone talking to you? Natalie does. She has good reason for stalking, err, seeking out Chris. She needs more time to bring investors back to her company. She won’t stand for Chris buying shareholders out from under her nose, but really, it’s difficult to stay focused when you hear a cartoonish voice talking to you. That’s Jinx for you though. Her timing is not always the best.

1.    Mistletoe…The holidays wouldn’t be the same without mistletoe and all the kisses you can steal under it. *g* and for Chris and Natalie, they take full advantage. So does Jinx. She’s rather heavy-handed with it, but no one seems to mind.

Bonus item: Love…A holiday story wouldn’t be complete without love! Therefore,, my friends, neither would the holidays. Santa, Jinx, and my hh wish you all the love and happiness this holiday season and all the seasons to come.

  9. I really like the spirit most people have this time of year - gratefulness, togetherness, etc. I don't think everyone has it, but I gravitate to those folks.
