Ms. Rachel Carrington!
Since you are a new to me author, I am hoping to bring you to the light of others! So let’s share!
Why don't you tell us a little about yourself.... Something that we cannot Google about you, lol!
Here are some things you hopefully can’t Google about me. You never know nowadays!
I’m a sci-fi junkie. I love most science fiction shows, but Star Trek: The Next Generation will always be my favorite. I prefer watching older television shows rather than what’s currently on TV. I mean older like that eighties and early nineties. I guess I’m just a product of my generation. I’d go back and live in the 1980’s in a heartbeat if I could.
Tell us a little about your book?
Waking Up Immortal is the first book in the Universal Security series with an immortal heroine and a half-man/half-machine hero. Together, they battle her father, his brother, and travel the galaxy searching for some place to call home eventually.
Waking Up Immortal is the catalyst for their story beginning with the introduction of Chloe’s (the heroine) father who is as evil as she is good and wants something from her she can’t give. The only thing standing between her and certain torture is Kier (the hero). The warden of an intergalactic prison where Chloe’s father is being held, Kier ends up becoming her bodyguard and along the way, they somehow manage to stumble into a relationship that neither one of them really understands.
How much emotion does it take from you to write?
That depends upon the scene. If it’s a heart-wrenching farewell scene, then it takes a lot. I don’t write those very often because they really put me through the wringer.
What is your favorite part of the book?
Always the ending. I like to see the two characters coming together after all the chaos while leaving the door open for a future.
You can only pick 3 words for your main characters..what would they be? *to describe your main characters*
Chloe is determined, impatient, and sarcastic.
Kier is unshakeable, arrogant, and bossy.
Bruce (Chloe’s father) is conniving, evil, and psychopathic.
Which was the easiest character to write and the hardest ~ and why??
I probably shouldn’t admit this, but it was the easiest for me to write Bruce, the villain. Why? Because evil always has a place in my books. I’ve written very few books without a villain. And delving inside the mind of a someone with telepathic control was a lot of fun.
The hardest to write was Kier. I didn’t want to give too much of his story away because I knew I wanted to make the second book all about him just as the first book was all about Chloe and learning her story. So keeping him hidden was a bit difficult when he played such a large role.
How many books are you shooting for in this series??
At least three, but there is a strong possibility there will be more, especially since I’m a third of the way through the second one now, and I see the possibility of future storylines.
What are you currently working on?
Two books actually. The sequel to Waking Up Immortal and another story tentatively titled “Betrayed by Love” about a fiftyish couple who reunite after a long time only for one to betray the other in a devastating way.
Do you have anything due to release soon?
I have a book that’s in edits now. Extreme Measures is a romantic suspense which relies very heavy on the thriller aspect. I haven’t set the release date yet, but it will be within the next couple of months.
What's one thing that you enjoy about writing?
Only one thing? I enjoy so many things, but since I’m handcuffed to one, I’ll choose the freedom to express my creativity. How is that for generic?
Since we're cover hussies....what was your first impression of your cover? I loved it! It was created by Elaina Lee of For the Muse Designs, and I’ve never disliked a cover she’s created for me yet.
What do you prefer ebooks or paperbacks? Ebooks. So much easier to read since I have a Kindle.
Is there a genre you would like to write but are a little apprehensive to try? Nope. I’m writing in the genres I prefer right now.
Okay.... personal time!!!! Oh yeah, I go there... Hahah...
If you thought you were safe... Nah... Forgot it... Not a chance! We will start off slow and easy, I promise!
What is on your night stand/dresser?
Lamp, Longenberger basket, box of tissues, bottled water, my cell phone, alarm clock, and aspirin.
What are you listening to you right now?
The crickets outside my window.
What are you reading right now?
At the moment, my answers to these questions. When I have spare time, I’m reading Fangirl by Angel Lawson
What is your favorite season? Holiday?
I love, love, love winter and Christmas.
And what has been your best b-day present ever??
My 35th when all of my friends threw a party for me. It was great having all of my friends together in one room, and it had the added distinction of being my first ever birthday party.

No, I haven't.
ReplyDeleteGreat interview.No I haven't done anything extreme.
ReplyDeleteEveryday I would get out of work and then go pick up one of my besties (she didn't drive) and as I sat waiting for her in the parking lot I would see this guy walk out of her office and go across the street to the mailbox. I asked her about the hottie and she told me some info, after a few weeks of watching him I decided to make my move & sat on the tailgate of my pickup truck and whistled at him, we had our first date 2 nights later & we just celebrated the 23rd anniversary of that 1st date last week by going back to the same place for dinner. I of course married him!
ReplyDeleteI went on a 4 week motorcycle trip with my then boyfriend and now husband. I think we had known each other for 3 months, lets just say that's the kind of thing that will make or break a relationship.
ReplyDeleteI actually haven't!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't really done anything extreme to get a guy unless you count when I was really young and wrote an "anonymous love letter" to a boy one of my really good friends liked. Have to laugh at the silliness when I think of it now!

Wow, Kerry! What a story! That would make an excellent book. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteHow true that is, Laurel! I'm not sure if I could have done it! Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteLOL, PC! I did the same thing for one of my friends in middle school. She was too scared to write him so I volunteered.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading the interview and commenting!
Bn, Elaing, and Arely, there's still plenty of time to do something a bit extreme!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
