Giveaway & Guest Post by Bryl R. Tyne for Riptide Publishing

First of all, where are you from? Wyoming

What do you love about being an author? Knowing I’ve moved people with my work.

Where do you get your inspiration? Life. It’s all around us, just gotta open your eyes.

Do you tend to base your characters on real people or are they totally from your imagination? Situations, circumstances, and personalities I pick up from real life, twist it up, and make it fiction, but the characters’ looks and whatnot are from my imagination.

If you could meet a paranormal being or character of your choice with no safeguards, what/who would you choose and why? I've always had this thing for Chewbacca….

What do you like or dislike about eBook publishing? I’m fascinated with the variety of books to choose from and the ease of buying them. I dislike the crap some pubs put out and call "writing".

Can you tell us a little about your latest release? Immortal came out at Noble Romance on Halloween and Divinity at Riptide Publishing on Nov 7th. Both have vampires, both are short novellas, but Divinity is more humorous, while Immortal is definitely the more darker romance of the two.

What genre do you write mostly and what appeals to you most about your genre? I like writing erotic romance. Not so much for the romance, but who doesn't like good smut?

Where do you get the names for your characters? If I have a particularly flawed character, I look up name meanings online. I like when the name is symbolic, but if I’m writing some little story just short of p0rn, I just use whichever name comes to mind.

What are you working on next? I'm finishing up my Horror collection, ANGUISH.

What are you reading now? One of my kids has convinced me to try some "classics," ugh. I'm currently reading Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.

Who are your favorite authors? Aleks Voinov, Josh Lanyon, Victor Banis, Alan Chin, and Kari Gregg haven't put out anything yet that I did not like.

What would you advise an aspiring author? Read Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott, watch this inspirational piece: Ira Glass on Storytelling at http://vimeo.com/24715531 , and write, write, write….

Is there anything you'd like to tell your readers? Thank you for letting me know how much you enjoy my books—and how much you hate them when I put out a real stinker.

When did you start the adventure of writing? April of 2008

Where do you find your inspiration? Life. In everything around me, the woods, the town, the people, my own kids… everywhere you look you can find something inspiring.
What's the funniest scene you've ever written?

What's the most romantic scene you've ever written? The closing scene in Tough Guy is my most romantic scene to-date. Paul and Tony are goin' at it…barely make it inside Paul's apartment with their clothes intact and onto the bed… naked, Paul's his usual talkative self, while Tony's as silent as ever. Paul passes Tony a condom and lube behind him saying one of the few lines Tony has said to him throughout the story, "Tell me what you want." And Tony tosses the stuff to the side, plops down beside Paul, pulls him into his arms, and kisses him. "I want more."

When you're not writing, what do you do for fun? Fuck. Eat. Sleep. (Someone told me that first one should be "Pray"?)

A quick quiz:  Answer as fast as you can.
Favorite Hero: Aquaman
Favorite Dessert: Angel food cake
Favorite Villain: Gru from Despicable Me

Favorite Song: BENT by Matchbox 20
Have you ever written to music? Always. It’s a must for me.

What music? Anything that moves me.

Do you have a writing tip to share with our viewers? Never write when filled with rage. You'll regret it three days later when you finally stop and realize you haven't bathed or eaten or slept.

What is the most interesting thing you have learned from your research? That a lot of Epubs will publish just about anything as long as they think it'll sell… truly sickening and disheartening to us who strive to be actual writers.

What fascinates you most about writing m/m? What fascinates me most is knowing there are many women out there who actually enjoy this stuff.

What does your family think of you writing erotica? The ones who've chosen to be vocal on the matter don't have a problem. My characters don't always mesh with them, but I don't care.

What would you tell a reader reluctant to read erotica? Getting plenty at home, eh? (Which usually leads to them proclaiming, "NO!" or "Not really.") Which opens the door to me adding, "Well, then what've got to lose? Hmm?"

Here's a blurb from Divinity:
Martin Hayes has found the perfect job for a 200-year-old vampire. As the late-shift security guard for Spire Industries, he works and hunts by night and sleeps by day, hidden away in the unused cellar. Life is all so easy—nights bleeding away, weeks and months passing . . . until a new janitor disturbs the peace. Martin finds himself consumed by memories (or are they?) of red hair, freckled skin, and a man he knows but doesn't know.
Dylan Mesmer isn’t just a hot, freckled, red-haired janitor. He’s altogether too composed around Martin and never surprised by Martin’s supernatural abilities. In fact, he seems to have a few of his own. And why does he keep feeding Martin orange lollipops?
A healthy vampire has no use for candy, yet Martin cannot resist the lure. It seems he’s being baited, but to what end? And what about those visions that assail him whenever he thinks of Dylan? Their story is centuries old, but this time around, Dylan’s playing for nothing less than immortality. Eternal life—and eternal love, after a sort—is within his reach, but can he convince Martin to change his ways and commit? They may never find their way beyond the anger and the lies, but there's no denying the draw between them, and that's very much worth fighting for—even among themselves.
