Review: Demon's Fall by Karalynn Lee

Demon's Fall
A fantasy romance novella
Published as an ebook by Carina Press on October 25, 2010

She was an angel at the gates of Hell.

When Kenan, an incubus, finds a caged angel for sale in the Hellsgate marketplace, he sees her as a challenge. Certain that his skills in seduction will work as well on a heavenly creature as they do on mortal women, he buys Jahel, intent on having her soul as a novelty in his collection.

Knowing he must gain Jahel's trust if she is to come to his bed willingly, Kenan treats her more as his guest than as his slave. When she reveals what brought her to the mouth of Hell in the first place — retrieving the soul of a young girl she was guarding — he even offers to help her complete her mission.

Though he has promised Jahel freedom, Kenan soon realizes she has captured his heart instead. And as their passion for one another grows, they find themselves caught in a struggle between Heaven and Hell, one that will lead them to the very edge of the apocalypse...

I obtained the above information from Ms. Lee's website.

For those of you that know me... and those that don't this is my little statement about short books.... I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review...

This truly is a good book. Good vs. Evil... Who will prevail? Will one be the demise of the world or of each other? Will the world end if good and bad fell in love with each other? Ms. Lee did a great job of detailing the world that Jahel and Kenan live in. This book is not my normal spicy reading, but it is just as good on its own level.

Jahel is an angel... looking for a soul she was guarding. The soul was stolen... and the where bouts of the soul was in a place angels dare not go... the last place on Earth she really wanted to be... but knew without a doubt that she would travel to Hell and back to rescue the soul.

Kenan was just looking for his next conquest. Being an incubus, he was just looking for the next prey in his game of seduction. When he finds an angel caged and chained... he sees a novelty. Something he does not have in his collection. I mean, what incubus, that lives in Hellsgates does not want to add an angel to his many trophies. But what he did not count on was the angel touching something deeper in him than just his lust button.

Can two people, of complete opposites worlds, help each other? What happens when one gives of themselves to help the other? What happens when the heart gets in the way of what your original plans are? Can Kenan help Jahel find the lost soul without losing his own? Will Jahel lose her soul to Kenan of free will, without being seduced into? Who seduces who? Can the world be saved from good coming together with evil? But what is truly evil?

I read this book in two days (or I should say nights). It is a very entertaining adventure to go on... There is love... there is pain... there are deal making and there is a little heart breaking... but what you will find... is a story worth while reading!

  7. I agree completely, hon! I reviewed this one last month, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a little gentler and a little more personal than the cover blurb suggests, but defintely a lovely story worth picking up.
