*Author Interview* The Butler Did It by Kate Deveaux

The Butler Did It

Vi Martin, a successful multi-millionaire businesswoman, is in for a surprise when the domestic agency sends her a new butler for her swanky Miami retreat. Drop dead gorgeous Clarkson Dale is the consummate professional butler until he meets his new employer. Strictly professional by day but all bets are off at night when they explore their fantasies. The sparks fly and their attraction is undeniable when they break all the rules when Michel, Vi’s gorgeous young French-trained chef joins Clarkson and Vi in exploring her deeper sexual tastes.  www.katedeveaux.com (Total E-Bound Publishing, Pre-Order June 2013)

Why don't you tell us a little about yourself.... Something that we cannot Google about you, lol!

Umm, well let’s see. I’m a Virgo, surprise surprise, very organized. I once lived in a little village along the Amalfi Coast and I love Russian history.

Tell us a little about your book?

“The Butler Did It’ is a twist on a Downton Abbey/ Upstairs Downstairs with a contemporary setting and a red hot butler, Clarkson Dale, and his sexy self assured boss, Vivienne Martin. Vi likes to break the rules and it turns out so does Clarkson when work turns to play.

How much emotion does it take from you to write?

An amazing amount, to be in the mind of the characters is all encompassing. But it’s fun!

What is your favorite part of the book?

I love the scene in the dining room…..and later in the bathtub….

You can only pick 3 words for your main characters…what would they be? *to describe your main characters*

Vivienne Martin           sensual, strong willed and adventuresome
Clarkson Dale             refined, seductive and self assured

Which was the easiest character to write and the hardest ~ and why??

Michel was probably the hardest to write, he’s the Chef. He’s young and more on the outskirts of the story until he becomes a very important element in fulfilling Vi’s fantasies. Ménage scenes are always tricky, a lot to keep track of with three in a sex scene instead of two. Nothing’s worse than a character sitting there twiddling their thumbs while the other two go at it!  Lol

How many books are you shooting for in this series??

Oh, I can’t wait to write a few more…definitely three or four, maybe more.

What are you currently working on?

‘Bimini Bound,’ an erotic romance. Mistaken identity and voyeurism bring a super sexy younger man and a curvaceous older woman together on board a luxury yacht in the Bahamas.

Do you have anything due to release soon?

After “Butler Did It,’ I have a sizzling erotic romance coming out August 1st, Academy of Love. Lovers reunited and all that good stuff, set at a prim and proper girl’s boarding school.

What's one thing that you enjoy about writing?

There are so many things, but I think I love just getting down on paper whatever story line, characters, etc. pop into my mind.

Since we're cover hussies....what was your first impression of your cover?

Loved it. Very sexy.

What do you prefer ebooks or paperbacks?

I read both, but confess since I got my Kindle, I do read a lot of ebooks.

Is there a genre you would like to write but are a little apprehensive to try?

Maybe historical.

Okay.... personal time!!!! Oh yeah, I go there... Hahah...

If you thought you were safe... Nah... Forgot it... Not a chance! We will start off slow and easy, I promise!

What is on your night stand/dresser?

Stack of paperbacks, photo of hubbie and me, and lip balm.

What are you listening to you right now?

Il Divo. Went to the concert, loved it.

What are you reading right now?

Art of Pleasure, by Ella Laurence,  Whiskey Beach, Nora Roberts. Just finished Tory Richard’s Instant Attraction. Very Good!

What is your favorite season? Holiday?

Fall used to be my favorite season when I lived further north, but now that I live in the desert I like summer. I like it hot! It’s so peaceful in the desert in the summer, it’s something I look forward to all year long.

And what has been your best b-day present ever??

A surprise weekend getaway to a Spa with some of my girlfriends about ten years ago.

Hard and Quick Time! Don't think... Just answer! Okay, before we go this route, I will get us a refill on our drinks... I will be right back...

You know you do... Quickie time... Think fast....

Are you a quickie kind girl?    Sometimes
Dark or Milk Chocolate?         Dark
Whipped or Melted?   Whipped
Straight up or with a twist - sex?         Twist
What's ur fave drink - in a glass or on him?    Gin Martini, lemon twist.
Spank or Flogger?  Spank.
Junk or Health Food?  Health
Ties or Chains?           Ties
Leather or Lace?          Lace
Soft or Hard... Bed, where was your mind?  Both, why not?
Control or Be Controlled?  I have to chose? I’ll like variety, so both, please!
Hot Wax or Whip Cream? Whip cream.
Vampire or Werewolf? Neither
Twitter and/or Facebook? Both
Pinterest or not? Yes!

Review: Fearless by Cat Grant *Riptide*

Fearless
http://riptidepublishing.com/titles/fearless

Author:

How can you plan for the future when escaping the past seems impossible?

After over a year together, Connor Morrison and Wes Martin decide to tie the knot. But an ethics complaint regarding their deeply non-traditional relationship threatens Connor’s job and Wes’s Ph.D. The fact that Connor tried to keep it from Wes—even with the best of intentions—makes the situation even worse and casts a pall over their plans for a Christmas wedding in New York.
It doesn’t help that Connor still treats Wes like glass, though Wes insists he’s recovered from the brutal assault he suffered a year and a half earlier. Wes may be okay, but Connor isn’t. Memories of taking a battered, terrified Wes to the emergency room that night still haunt him, and he can’t let go of the need to protect Wes from any and everything life might throw at him.
But Wes has had enough. Between the specter of the ethics complaint and Connor’s overprotectiveness, he’s already beginning to question their plans. Add in a family ashamed of and angered by his choices, and Wes might just leave Connor standing at the altar.
(Publisher's note: This title is a sequel to Priceless. For maximum enjoyment, we highly recommend reading Priceless first.)

I obtained the above information from Riptide.

Just a little warning, if the cover did not tip you off or the genre listing did not tip you off, this is a m/m book. If this is not your cup of tea, you will not offend me if you just drop by to say hi and move on... Know that one I am hoping to change your mind! :)

For those of you that know me... and those that don't this is my little statement about short books.... I do  not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review...

I have to say that I highly agree with Riptide that you kinda should read Priceless first. I am a person that had to read things in order, but for this series - you kinda have to. Ms. Cat does an awesome job of not making you feel lost because she does capture the story... but to know the details that make this story what is and truly appreciate it... you need to read Priceless. Buttt..... if you have read Priceless, then you will definitely want to pick this one up as well.

Connor is a man of great intelligence but when it comes to his partner, he can be a little daft. He needs to protect is overriding his need to just love. Connor wants to make sure that Wes always feels safe with him and never in harm but wanting to spank his ass is giving Connor nightmares... He is scared of what that would do to Wes (you have to read book one to find out what happened with that, really sad, but Connor was there for him) but he should be scared of losing Wes. Connor is the one that needs to get over and let go of what happened and move on... Then his job... Well, that is another issue that is weighing heavy on Connor... But keeping things from him partner is not a good idea... Can Connor overcome everything and just learn to let go and love... Because Wes is his world... What happens if his world disappears...?

Wes... I just want to take him and love him. He has been through hell and back but he is determined to make Connor see that loving him will not kill him... Actually the opposite is kinda true... Not being able to love his partner may be the death of him. Wes is trying to figure out how to convince Connor to love him with a hard hand without scaring him. Even though it should be Wes that's scared of a hard hand... Wes just wants his Connor back... The one that loves him with a raw passion and doesn't hide things from him... But what can Wes do to make Connor see... They are getting married... Or are they. Wes can't imagine his life without Connor but without his love and support what good is a marriage....

The tension is thick, the love is thicker... But can Connor realize what he is doing before it is too late. Wes is his world and it is about to slip though his fingers if he is not careful... This story will keep you on your toes and make you want to slap the crap out of some freaking arrogant people. Connor and Wes are an adorable couple, but feelings get hurt and pride gets dinged.. Can these two make it to their wedding... or will there be a divorce before a marriage? I hope you take the journey with Connor and Wes to see how they grow...

Rylee Thomas is used to being in control. But she’s about to meet the one man that just might make her enjoy losing it…

I am the exception to the rule.

In a world full of willing women, I’m a challenge to the roguish and achingly handsome Colton Donavan. A man used to getting exactly what he wants in all aspects of life. He’s the reckless bad boy constantly skating that razor thin edge toward out of control, on and off of the track.

Colton crashes into my life like a tornado: sapping my control, testing my vulnerabilities beyond their limits, and unintentionally penetrating the protective wall around my healing heart. Tearing apart the world I rebuilt so carefully with structure, predictability, and discipline.

I can’t give him what he wants and he can’t give me what I need. But after a glimpse beneath his refined exterior into the dark secrets of his damaged soul, can I bring myself to walk away?

Our sexual chemistry is undeniable. Our individual need for complete control is irrefutable. But when our worlds collide, is the chemistry enough to bring us together or will our untold secrets and battle of wills force us apart?

“Jealous, sweetheart?” He raises his eyebrows as his grin flashes arrogantly. “We can always finish what we started, and you can mark me any way you’d like.”
I gently shove my hand against his chest, pushing him back. I’d love to wipe that smirk off if his face. Leave my mark that way. “Sorry, I don’t waste my time on misogynist jerks like you. Go find someone—”
“Careful, Rylee,” he warns as he grips my wrist, looking every bit as dangerous as his voice threatens. “I don’t take kindly to insults.”
I try to yank my wrist away, but his hold remains. To anyone in the room, it looks as if I’m laying my hand on his heart in affection. They can’t feel the steel strength of his grip.
“Then hear this,” I snap, tired of this game and the warring emotions and sensations within me. Anger takes hold. “You only want me because I’m the first female who’s said no to your gorgeous face and come-fuck-me body. You’re so used to every female falling at your feet, pun intended, that you see a challenge—someone immune to your charm—and you’re unsure how to react.”
Despite his nonchalant shrug, I can see his underlying irritation as he releases my wrist. “When I like what I see, I go after it,” he states unapologetically.
Shaking my head, I roll my eyes. “No, you need to prove to yourself that you can, in fact, get any girl who crosses your path. Your ego’s bruised. I understand,” I patronize patting his arm. “Well, don’t sweat it, Ace, I forfeit this race.”
He raises an eyebrow, a ghost of a smile on his lips as he finds something humorous in my comment. The muscle in his clenched jaw tics as he regards me momentarily. “Let’s get something straight,” he leans in, inches from my mouth, the gleam in his eyes warning me I’ve gone too far. “If I want you, I can and will have you, at anytime and in anyplace, sweetheart.”
I snort in the most unladylike way, astonished at his audacity, yet trying to ignore the quickening of my pulse at the thought. “Don’t bet on it,” I sneer as I hastily try to skirt past.
His hand whips out and grabs hold of my arm again, spinning me back toward him, so that I’m standing intimately close. I can see his pulse beat in the line beneath his jaw. Can feel the fabric of his jacket hit my arm as his chest rises and falls. I glance down at his hand on my arm and glare back at him in warning, yet his hold still remains. He leans his face in to mine so that I can feel his breath feather across my cheek. I angle my head up to his, not sure if I’m raising my chin in defiance or in anticipation of his kiss.
“Lucky you, I’m a gambling man, Rylee,” his resonating voice is just a whisper of sound. “I do, in fact, like a good challenge now and again,” he provokes, a mischievous smile playing at the corners of his mouth. He releases my arm, but runs his finger lazily down the rest of it. The soft scrape of his finger on my exposed skin sends shivers down my back.
“So let’s make a bet.” He stops and nods at a passing acquaintance, bringing me to the here and now as I’ve forgotten that we’re in a room full of people.
“Didn’t your mother teach you when a lady says no, she really means no, Ace?” I raise my eyebrow, a look of disdain on my face.
That smarmy smirk of his is back in full force as he nods in acknowledgement at my comment. “She also taught me that when I want something, I need to keep after it until I get it.”
Great, so now I’ve acquired a stalker. A handsome, sexy, very annoying stalker.
He reaches out and toys with a loose curl on the side of my neck. I try to remain impassive despite my urge to close my eyes and sink into the whisper of his fingers across my skin. His smirk tells me that he knows exactly what his effect is on me. “So, like I said, Ryles, a bet?
I bristle at his proposition. Or maybe it is at his effect on me. “This is asinine—”
“I bet by the end of the night,” he cuts me off holding a hand up to stop me, “I have a date with you.”
I laugh out loud stepping back from him. “Not a chance in hell, Ace!”
He takes a long swallow of his drink, his expression guarded. “What are you scared of then? That you can’t resist me?” He flashes a wicked grin when I roll my eyes. “Agree then. What do you have to lose?”
“So you get a date with me and your bruised ego is restored,” I shrug indifferently, wanting no part of this contest. “What will I get out if it?”
“If you win—”
“You mean if I can resist your dazzling charm,” I retort, my voice laced with sarcasm.
“Let me rephrase. If you can resist my dazzling charm by the end of the night, then I’ll donate,” he flickers his fingers through the air in a gesture of irrelevance, “let’s say, twenty thousand dollars to your cause.”
I catch my breath and look at him in bewilderment, for this I can agree to. I know that there’s no way in hell that I’ll succumb to Donavan or his captivating wiles, the arrogant bastard. Agreed, I was caught in his tantalizing web for a few moments, but it was just because it’s been so long since I’ve felt like that. Since I’ve been kissed like that. Been touched like that.

Review: Slow Burn by Anne Marsh

HE’S FEELING THE HEAT

Evan Donovan is a big muscled giant of a man, whose size and strength make him uniquely qualified to be a smoke jumper. No matter how great or how treacherous the challenge, he gets the job done. But when he agrees to look in on a friend’s ex-wife after a suspicious brushfire, Evan learns that some jobs are too hot to handle. Especially when it involves a scorchingly sexy woman…
SHE’S PLAYING WITH FIRE
Faye Duncan is a photographer on a mission, shooting fires for a magazine. But her first encounter with a wildfire isn’t nearly as wild as her first night with Evan Donovan. The moment she meets the bigger-than-life hero, the sparks begin to fly. But things really catch fire when Evan learns she may have taken a photo of the arsonist setting the fires. Evan is determined to keep Faye safe. But if he expects her to trust him with her life, he’ll have to open up his heart—even if someone gets burned…

I obtained the above information from Ms. Anne's website!

Okay, first I normally tell you about the author and her story she has created or the past stories... But today, I want to take a moment and pay homage to the cover. I normally don't mention the cover - because as readers, we are not to judge a book by it's cover. But in this case, I will make an exception!! Because this cover totally freaking rocks!! There is a part in the story that this cover fits so well. I mean down to a 'T'! Evan is freaking hot.. All firefighter, all smoke jumper, all male and all sorts of yumminess! And the cover screams EVAN! The only difference in the scene that is burned in my mind and the cover - is he still has some equipment on his shoulder and in the story... Well, let's just say that he will be working with his other equipment! :)

Okay now on to my normal review... Anne amazes me with each story. She brings these three men into your heart and she roots a place for them. The first story was Jack's story and OMG... You will fall in love with him and his brothers. This is Evan's story and oh man, does Anne make sure she knocks you to your knees with this big man! The world of smokers jumpers will burn you alive!

Evan is a man on a mission - keeping what is his safe. No matter the cost to himself. He is always looking out for his family and friends. He does not put on airs about who he is but own's who he is. There is no mistaking who Evan is and what he stands for. He is the kinda guy that you either like him or you don't. And most people are just a little intimidated by him, so they kinda stay away. But he loves his family with every fiber of his being and when asked, he would do anything for them... So when he gets a phone call from one of his Marine buddies, requesting a favor... Well, he can't seem to say no... But when he finds out what the favor is... or should I say who she is... Well, that is when the heat starts to slowly burn... :)

Faye is a woman on a mission as well... A mission to put as many miles between her and her ex as possible. She wants to start living a life for herself. Needing to feel free, she bought herself a pretty little red Corvette... She cashed out her 401K and bought that pretty little thing and headed out of dodge without looking back! But needing money to live on is what put her in Strong, CA. She was there on an assignment, but while she was there - she just a soon enjoy the views, lol. Surrounded by firefighters and smoke jumpers... I mean, who could ask for a better assignment than that! She was there to report on the new fire station that Jack and his brothers were restoring. But there might be more than just a restoring story to report... But will it cost Faye her life to report it... Faye also wasn't expecting Evan... She wasn't prepared for the fire storm that would brew between them... She is playing with fire but was she ready to burn...

This is such a hot story... From the moment you open the book and read page one, till the end - the book title is true - you will slowly burn for more. Anne crafted this story with some intense drama. But I do have to say that I would have loved to have been there when Faye was taking pictures of the firefighters when they were cleaning up the fire station... with their shirts off, the water hose going off on them... Oh, she will have you drooling over some scenes. But she will have you biting your nails at some scenes.... Anne, I am warning you now... I will be stalking you for Rio's story **evil wink**

Vampire Elite

Part 1. Prophecy

Part 2. Keepers of the Key

What will he do if saving his people means destroying the woman he loves?

A millennia-long war between two immortal races is about to come to an end. Long ago, the Vampire Elite began capturing the immortals called the Amiti, attracted by their unique blood properties. Now most Amiti live in underground cells, forced to serve as vampires’ bloodstock. The few surviving free Amiti, preparing a final strike, have declared their Queen a traitor. Her execution makes possible the rise of a new Queen, her young daughter Arianna, who will inherit her mother's mystical powers. Working with the Keepers of the Key, Arianna may be able to eliminate the vampires, once and for all, from the face of the earth.

The new Queen is the last hope to save her dying race and she's ready to fight to the last drop of her blood.

But the King of the Vampires has other plans. What neither expects is the passion that erupts between them.

Vampire Elite is an epic story of a bitter conflict between two immortal races, and the effect of that conflict on everyone living in its grip. The characters are driven to love and betrayal, vengeance and sacrifice in a world without easy black-and-white answers.

Based on an ancient Egyptian legend, packed with action and intrigue, Vampire Elite will pull you into the entrancing world of immortals and open new portals into their hidden universe.

Readers’ Favorite reviewers on Vampire Elite:

You’ve managed to restore my hope in the future of vampire books ...
... a fascinating read and definitely a book for anyone who loves fantasy, romance and of course vampires.
… a spellbinding novel of action, suspense, romance, and conscience ...  character development is superb ... the type of book that will make you read all day until you get to the end! It is deliciously addictive!
For more info please visit

Keepers of the Key

Members of the Vampire Elite are about to celebrate the total defeat of their enemies, the Amiti. But the vampires’ victory will not be complete until they eliminate the final Amiti safeguard: the Keepers of the Key.

The Keepers are five Amiti originally named by Hathor, the Egyptian goddess who created the Amiti. Knowing how dangerous life on earth will be for them, Hathor gave five Amiti the ability to unlock the powers of the Egyptian gods by symbolically turning the Key of Life, the Ankh. If the five Amiti Keepers come together and focus their will on the Ankh symbol, visualizing it with the intention of unleashing the powers of the gods, the Key will be turned. The catch is that nobody actually knows what might happen if the powers of gods were to be unlocked: some believe that those powers will be the Amitis’ to command; others believe that turning the Key will unleash total chaos and destruction. The ancient legend about the goddess Sekhmet’s rampage across Egypt and how close she came to totally annihilating life on earth is vivid in both Amitis’ and vampires’ minds. However, the Amiti have reached the breaking point, fearing their own total decimation, and virtually all of them agree that it is time to take this extreme step. And the vampires, of course, will do all they can to stop them.

In the Vampire Elite everyone has their perspective, and to some degree everybody is right; both immortal races are fighting for the survival of their people. The fact that the novel offers no black-and-white answers, no purely evil or purely good choices, means that readers never know which side to take. Beware: it will keep you on your toes.

Vampire Elite
Excerpt (Simone at the Hunter’s auction)

As the auctioneer spoke, two Sekhmi in eveningwear—a male carrying an elegant dagger and a female a silver tray covered with glass vials—approached the Amiti girl.
“She’s barely eighteen, ladies and gentlemen. That’s a good three years younger than the youngest bloodstock you’ll usually come across. Look at her; she’s stunning, simply stunning, and as you can see, we’ve kept her well conditioned, in excellent health.”
The auctioneer paused as the male Hunter grasped the Amiti’s hand and held it above the tray. The girl showed no resistance, her only display of anxiety the butterfly fluttering of her thick eyelashes. He raised his other hand, and the dagger flashed in the light as with a swift motion he slit the Amiti’s palm. The dark, intoxicating scent of fresh blood filled the room as it poured into the vials.
Simone’s gums began to itch and burn, and she covered her mouth with her hand so no one would see her fangs punching down. It was considered terribly rude to expose one’s fangs in public, even among other vampires. But she needn’t have worried; everyone’s attention was riveted to the stage and the blood flowing from the girl’s wound. The room vibrated with bloodlust and sexual arousal.
The female Sekhmi approached Simone’s table, offering the Royal Pride the first of the blood samples. Knowing that all eyes were on her, Simone forced herself not to hesitate and took a small sip—and was immediately flooded with euphoria.
“For this magnificent specimen, we open the bidding at ten million U.S. dollars,” announced the auctioneer.
