Review: Safeword: Matte by Candace Blevins

I was given this book for my hones thoughts and review! So here goes!!

For those of you that know me... and those that don't this is my little statement about short books.... I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review..

I am a fan of Ms. Candace's work... I have looked forward to this story since my last review... And I wish I could just say that this is going to be a one line review... OM "flogging" G - this book is WoW. From start to finish Ms. Candace took my little world an shook it the hell up! I have read a lot of BDSM books, but no one (well, maybe one or two) has pushed my envelope like she did with this book! This is a very explosive book... It will push you, it will drive you... It will make you want more when you don't think you can handle more.

The connection between these two characters are off the charts... Sam is the kinda woman I love - she knows what she wants, she knows where to find it, she is not a shame of what her body and soul crave. She knows she has to be private about what pushes her buttons but she knows that it will take more than a mere man to handle her.... Ethan proves to be just that man! He is everything and more! He delivers just what Sam needs, craves, desires... wants... Question is... Will he give it to her or will he make her fight for it?

The scenes get pretty wild and rough but it done with a taste of style and lust that makes you push to read it... Ms. Candace will give you everything your heart desires and more with Matte... I can only promise you - you will not stop or wait once you pick it up!!!

A snarl sounded. “Just shut up a second. I can’t think.” A rumbling purr vibrated against her, growing louder as the woman on her back nuzzled her neck.

“What are you doing?” Mallory asked in a very small voice, wondering if she was going to be raped by the woman and why that thought didn’t terrify her more.

Mmm… I’m doing what I couldn’t when you groomed me.”

Groomed you?” A sandpaper tongue licked behind her ear. “Jesus! Get off me.”

Pffft. Nails dug into her shoulders, but the woman released her hands and climbed off her.

Mallory rolled to her side, caught a glimpse of her attacker, and screamed. She scrambled backward on her hands and butt, halting when she hit the bed. “You—you…” She pointed, hyperventilating.

The woman who knelt on all fours in front of her was the spitting image of Miss Kitty. Well, mostly. Her body was still Barbie Doll perfect, but the tiger-striped fur was a shorter, shining down. Her face was smooth, still beautiful and round, the eyes a wide, unblinking green. Long brown hair fell down her back, parted by small cat’s ears atop her head. A long striped tail curved around one thigh—the white, tufted end flicking lazily side to side.

Mallory drew deep breaths and shook her head. This wasn’t happening. Beautiful women didn’t visit her bedroom, never mind the fur suit. “All right. I’m asleep. Or high. Maybe that old witch at the garage sale had some LSD in the goo she rubbed on my hand when we shook.”

The cat-woman’s small, triangular nose twitched. “Old witch?”

“Not important right this minute,” Mallory bit out. “I’m being punked, right?”

Miss Kitty’s head canted, curiosity in her large mirrored eyes. “What are you talking about? And could you please speak more slowly? I’m still having trouble—” Her eyelids slid halfway down, and she sniffed the air delicately. “Your smell—it’s delicious.” Her cat’s lips, with the pretty cleft on the upper bow, lifted. White teeth, the eyeteeth honed to scary sharpness, flashed.

“Are you going to eat me?”

The cat’s eyes blinked. Her lips twitched. “Only if you’re good,” she purred.

Review: The Kure by Jaye Frances

 Let's start with a synopsis of the story:

I am a new reader to Ms. Jaye work and she is very intriguing. The story she has to tell is very in-depth. I would consider this story to be a western story even thought there are no guns being drawn or anything like that, but it is during the horse and buggy era... So to me that is western era.

The story is of a man - John - who has some type of infection. Now I am not sure where or how he caught it but it is in a very private area and he just wants it healed by any means necessary....

There is a way of getting rid of it... The Kure....

It is not something anyone wants to talk about or discuss or even breath the words about... So, John is kinda left in a pickle because the reasonable way to cure him is leeching... Which was popular back then.... But can John handle that or does he venture out to try The Kure...

For those of you that know me... and those that don't this is my little statement about short books.... I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review..

Okay.. First let me say that there was not a whole lot of back and forth as far as the timeline is concerned... But I am reader that has a difficult time going back and forth and back and forth. I have to normally read these kind of books in order (reading one "past" then going to the "present") only because that is my issue...

But saying this...... This book is a great read! Oh gosh... in such a short story, Josee gave me what was needed to make this story work! It is kinda heart-wrenching... I mean, you are sorta left feeling sorry for Thea because she spends the best month of her life with the man of her dreams... and then he is gone from her life and she has no idea where or what happened to him...

Then you find out what happened to Garbiel and again your heart goes out to him because you know if he could, he would let Thea know what is going on... But it is a matter of life or death... Seriously...

But the reunion will make you giggle and then sigh... then go aweeeee.... I hope you enjoy the story as much as I did!

I knew before I started writing Doubtless that it would be a different kind of book. For one thing, although it does have a happy ending (or at least, a satisfying ending), it’s not your traditional HEA. In fact, it’s not even a traditional romance, though it is most definitely a love story.

Those of you who’ve read my previous novella Priceless have already met Steve Campbell, 3D optics innovator and a guy who’s got the world on a string – or so it appears to everyone else. But on the inside, he’s battling a massive inferiority complex as well as a bad case of unrequited love for his best friend and business partner Connor Morrison. There’s just one problem – Connor’s already spoken for.

In essence, Doubtless is Steve’s coming of age story (if by age, you mean middle age!) and also a story about selflessness – aka, wanting Connor to be happy, even if it is with someone else. Quite a bit of personal growth for a short story, huh? J

But never fear, Steve will be getting his own happily ever after, as soon as I finish writing my first Christmas story. J

Omg, this is part of Steve's story... Ms. Cat, I just KNOW there is more to come! You simply have to give me the rest of Steve's story... I was really hoping that Connor and Wes would have taken him in, but you broke my heart when Connor told him what he said.... (for those of you that did not read the book, I guess you will have to go read the book!)... But seriously, this is a great lead up to what I know will be one hell'va story! Steve is just that kinda man... I mean he needs his other half... The title is simply the truth.... But it surprised me how much Steve doubted himself.... I kinda wish he would have went after Connor full force... But I understand that once might have been could be no more... Time to move on... And I cannot wait to see who you partner Steve with.... He will have to be one hell'va man!!!

I obtained this bookfor my honest thoughts.... And this is a m/m loving book, so if this is not your cup of tea, please know you will not hurt my feelings...Just stop by to say hi!

I am having a little trouble with my review because as much as I intrigued with this story and it's characters... I had a hard time with the going back and forth of the time line. I should let you know that those kind of stories are not my favorite.... It is just not my reading preference. I do not want to scare you away from this story because this story is a good story... There are a few angles the story tries to incorporates. The ghost aspect of the story was done very well.... The love story is still an awe type story.... My issues was the timeline. So what I did was try to read the story in order, but that got me a little confused as well....

I have included some links of other reviews in case you want to see more! I really hope you give this story a chance as it just might be a story for you! These are two wonderful author!!!!

I notice the huge travel posters behind Debby’s desk—four-color testaments to the blazing sunsets of Hawaii and the clear blue oceans of Tahiti and the Bahamas.

Debby nods, her face appearing to move independently from the cosmetic landfill that covers it. “Sounds like you’re thinking about a beach vacation. Of course, some of the nicest beaches are found in the Caribbean.”

A tropical island. Palm trees. White sand. Gentle trade winds. And me, strolling along the shore, hand-in-hand with a native beauty, both of us wearing nothing but flowers in our hair.

“Sure, why not?”

“Are you a diver?” Debby asks. “There are lots of opportunities to explore old wrecks in the Caribbean.”

I shake my head no.

Shipwrecked. That wasn’t exactly what she’d said, but it sounded so . . . so perfect; mercifully spared by the churning sea, tossed onto a sandy beach where I sit dazed, not yet able to make it to my feet. Barely lucid enough to distinguish between reality and hallucination, I squint at the horizon, straining to focus, my vision still hazy from the salt and sun.

Suddenly, I detect movement, a blur in the distance. I feel a wave of sickening uncertainty as I realize I am not alone in this tropical paradise. I begin to imagine the worst: wild animals, or even headhunters, slowly sizing up their next trophy. I wait, unprotected and half-blind as a dozen indistinguishable forms move toward me.

In moments, I am surrounded. My soon-to-be captors reach for me, their touch bold and unafraid. Knowing I have no other choice, I resign myself to battle. I grab for the closest assailant, determined to dispatch as many of my attackers as possible. But my efforts are at once disarming and surprisingly unnecessary as my fingers find soft, yielding skin. I ease my grip, feeling the focus of my assault trembling with fear.

My vision beginning to clear, I squint through the briny mask that still covers my face and see the clouded forms turn rich with detail. As they peer from a sea of softly flowing blond hair, I am greeted with smiles of unmistakable welcome as a dozen pair of huge blue eyes meet my own.

They are the most beautiful castaways I can imagine. As I scan the few remaining shreds of fabric clinging to their taut, supple bodies, I realize I’m looking at the tattered uniforms of cheerleaders—high school seniors. I smile and open my arms as they gather around me, each one offering the press of bare flesh, each one in obvious compliance and ready submission, each one knowing instinctively that only I can protect her from certain danger that lurks in the coming night.

I wonder if that is somewhere in the brochure. I wonder if good ol’ Debby, Travel Professional, can recommend a resort with a great beach, close to a high school.

“I guess an island sounds okay,” I answer. “But it’s got to be affordable. Do these trips ever go on sale?”

“How about several islands for the price of one?” She hands me a glossy booklet and adds, “Take a look at this.”

I flip through the pictures. There are men in tuxedos and women in low-cut dresses, their heads tilted back, laughing at God knows what. A black waiter—he’s not laughing—stands by their table. On the opposite page, good-looking couples gather around a grand piano, sipping exotic drinks and showing off their tans.

I turn the page and see the layout of a huge cruise ship.

Suddenly, Debby holds up a single finger, indicating our conversation has been suspended. She turns to her computer screen and begins a dry reading of room accommodations and prices into the phone.

I open to the center foldout and find an overview of the boat’s recreation deck. An inset photo offers an aerial view of hundreds of empty lounge chairs lining the edges of two pools set end-to-end. Another picture shows the activity at sea, with many of those chairs occupied by the prone bodies of perfectly proportioned women. Darkly tanned and nearly naked—some have untied their tops—they boldly prop themselves up on their elbows, unfettered by fabric or social restraint. They look spectacular. And ripe. And ready for harvest. I decide it is a magnificent sight, this incredible ship of mostly beautiful women.

I was given this book for my honest thoughts.... So here we go!
For those of you that know me... and those that don't this is my little statement about short books.... I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review..

 OMG.... Okay, first let me say that I am a new reader to Ms. Victoria... Then let me end this sentence with... I am hooked. Victoria's writing is erotically alluring. The tale she has created devoured me from the first page till the last page.... I am not a huge historical reading buff, but after reading this story.... Ms. Victoria has reminded me what I am truly missing.... After reading Victoria's story... I believe she is the devil herself... Evil woman you are!!

Phoebe & Ned's story will lure you... Phoebe had me at the beginning of the story. She is a woman that, just like today's woman, is faced with her career ending, jobless, and possibly homeless if she cannot find a way to secure her future... And after losing her heart to a man who did not care, Phoebe is very harden to let her heart go again... Until she meets a man that not only intrigues her, but ignites something deep down inside of her that she can not deny... Passion... But what if it means losing her heart in the process... Is he worth it... Well, I hope you read the story to find out because it is worth it!

Ned is an amazing man... He lost the love of his life three year previous and is trying to give his daughter a coming out party that she deserves - due to her 18th birthday -, he is a man bent on providing for family no matter the cost to him. But lonely will only last so long.... Ned prided himself on his celibacy... Until he meets up with his dearest best friend, Viscount Ludovic DeVere....the devil himself as some would say... Well, let's just say that in one night spent in the company of DeVere will change Ned's life forever... Because he unleashes the beast that has been hiding in his soul because he meets one woman who challenges him in ways he never thought possible...

This story is just unbelievably great! The tale Victoria has created enticed me, tempted me, teased me... She brought lust to the paper like the scarlet fever. She brought fun back to reading historical stories... She made me giggle, she me wonder, she made me fall in love and she also lured me on the dark side with the devil himself... The characters are awesomely developed, each bringing a rich contrast to each other but each flavoring the story with such a richness it will pull you into their story and whisper their stories in your ear while they delight your senses with the things they desire!

Victoria, you have tempted, teased, lured, enticed me with your words, your characters and your story... You, I believe dear woman.... are an evil woman! Awesome story, now I can't wait to see the next tale to be told because believe me... You have given me A Wild Night.... but I want more!

The Allure of the Space Opera

I’ll admit it. My first major exposure to science fiction was Star Trek. I followed that show religiously, and, as kids do, made up my own adventures or slightly twisted existing episodes and made them longer and cooler (and at times bloodier) in my head. We’re talking the old school Star Trek (what I believe is now called “Classic Star Trek”). It was that sense of wonder and adventure, all the cool stuff that happened, and I desperately wanted to be Spock. You just can’t beat him for sheer coolness.

Of course I also followed the various spin-offs and revamps. I loved the Borg. A collective machine/human hybrid intelligence that looked a bit like the Cenobites from Hellraiser, and my adolescent self also thought of the implications of all the latex and potential cyber-kink. Then Star Wars came along, and I liked the mythological dimension of that. As a fairy tale set in space, Star Wars is unbeatable.

As I grew more cynical, I managed to grab the tail end of the cyberpunk sub-genre (if you were really cynical, you could say we’re living in a cyberpunk world now), with its corporate politics and human augmentation and the idea overall that we can’t win for losing. Economic decline, a huge wealth gap between the 1% and the rest, corruption, media manipulation and banks hurling trillions around the globe without seemingly being accountable to anybody. Riots on the streets of London, burning shop front, and public suicides to protest austerity packages. Damn, I like me some cyberpunk.

But what I really enjoy is new worlds and concepts, and I think my favourite story of them all is Dune by Frank Herbert, a book that won the Hugo in 1966, nine years before I was even born. I was entranced by its world building and ideas, from the vast scope of space and time to the Bene Gesserit’s litany against fear, which every self-respecting sci-fi geek has learned by heart:

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Even though the homophobia of Frank Herbert troubled me a great deal, the work itself to me still belongs to the very best of space opera. I’d never dream of occupying the same shelf as Herbert (or William Gibson), but I’m trying to give my writing the same sense of history and depth (though I’m not nearly as good at world-building). Even in a fictional dream, things have a history and a larger picture, and Dune taught me that. Whenever I look at my own work, I glance back at my space opera favourites and remember that sense of wonder, that slack-jawed awe that I felt when I discovered one of my favourites, and he very thing I’m looking for when I pick up a new sci-fi book.

In “Incursion”, I enjoyed the scale of the setting. There’s the Commonwealth, a human-run political entity currently under threat from a totalitarian military society (the Doctrine), and, if the situation weren’t tense enough, I threw aliens into the mix—shapechangers that have only recently appeared and nobody knows what they want or what they are capable of. The stakes are high—unknowable alien spies threaten from the inside (and you can never know what they look like), while a militarily superior foes is just waiting for the best moment to make its move. While we don’t see that the Doctrine is getting ready to conquer the Commonwealth, the fact that it’s there and threatening lends a sense of urgency and tension to the story.

And then we come back to what I love about space opera. Often in space opera, one heroic (or anti-heroic) character can make a huge difference. The big dramatic questions can come down to one man. In Incursion, that’s Kyle Juenger, an outsider, an ex-pilot on social welfare, a disabled man battling cynicism and thoughts of suicide. He’s tough, but he’s in a bad situation, but he dares to hope that catching the shapeshifting spy will turn his life around.

And it does. Just not quite as expected.

Biography:

Aleksandr Voinov is an emigrant German author living near London, where he makes his living editing dodgy business English so it makes sense (and doesn’t melt anybody’s brain). He published five novels and many short stories in his native language, then switched to English and hasn’t looked back. His genres range from horror, science fiction, cyberpunk, and fantasy to contemporary, thriller, and historical erotic gay novels.
In his spare time, he goes weightlifting, explores historical sites, and meets other writers. He singlehandedly sustains three London bookstores with his ever-changing research projects and interests. His current interests include World War II, espionage, medieval tournaments, and prisoners of war. He loves traveling, action movies, and spy novels.

I am an avid reader of Aleksandr's work. He intrigues me at every turn, lures me with every character and entices me with every moment of lust he pours on those pages. He will wrap you up in his stories and not let you go till the very last page... And that's only if he wants to be nice...

This story is different than most of the stories I have read by Aleksandr... This one is a sci-fi story... Which I have to say intrigued me to read...

This is a short story, so there is not much that I am going to tell you to give it away... But I will tell you that this story will keep you guessing until the last page. The story will keep you in suspense, it will keep you wondering who's who or who's what...

Kyle and Grimm's story will keep you on the edge of your seat. Now the only thing will be to see if there will be more to come from Kyle and Grimm. Because I am sure we have not heard the last from them and their adventure... In fact, I am pretty sure they will have more to come because come to think of it.... I am not sure if Kyle finished his mission.... Which was to bring in his "fugitive." Hummm... In fact his mission took a detour when he met Grimm and his crew... But the real question is... Will Grimm piece together Kyle to make him feel whole again... Or will things go downhill fast when Kyle finds out exactly what Grimm is....

I don't know what you're position is on truffles is, but hopefully your position, dear reader, on cookie dough is off the charts. And, because I've invested in a delightfully wonderful new cookbook and it's all about cookie dough desserts. Truffles, bars, ice cream, cookies, cakes... Y'all just don't know.


 Well, okay, one of you will know because I'm going to giveaway a copy of the cookbook. It has so much fun stuff in it, you'll be busy for a month, or two. Or maybe even three. You might be making several of these recipes more than once.

That's something fun about recipes. You find favorites and you just make them over and over again. People start wanting them more, as well. That's how Jane, from my book Melting Jane got her business with Edward. She made him truffles to cheer him up, and he couldn't get enough of them. They were made out of love and concern from one friend to another and that became the purpose behind their company, Kickin' Chocolate Truffles. Giving a little bite of comfort to those in need...  

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles Yield: 3-4 dozen  
Prep Time: 1 hour  
Total Time: 2 1/2 hours  
Ingredients: 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, room temperature
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/3 cup milk or soy milk
1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
14 oz dark chocolate candy coating

Directions: Beat butter and sugars and in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add soymilk and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt and mix on low speed (or by hand) until incorporated. Stir in chocolate chips.

Cover and chill dough for 1 hour.

When dough is firm enough to handle (it may help to lightly flour your hands), form dough into 1" balls and arrange on a baking sheet lined with waxed paper. Place sheets in freezer and let chill for 30 minutes.

Melt chocolate candy coating in a double boiler or in microwave according to package directions. Using forks or a dipping tool, dip cookie balls into candy coating to cover. Tap fork on side of pan to remove any excess coating, and return to waxed paper-lined baking sheets. Chill until set. Store, chilled, in an airtight container for up to 1 week (though good luck making them last that long).

The cookie dough, even without eggs, tastes so amazing. These are very simple to make, and they don't last even 24 hours after being made. Can you say, ADDICTION?

Striding toward him, placing one foot in front of the other to exaggerate the sway of her hips, she unlaced the top of her corset, spreading the opening and tucking the upper edge beneath her breasts. His gaze dropped to her tits.

“Guess you need more incentive to obey a simple command.” She touched her nipples with her fingertips and toggled the turgid little tips.

“Mondo told me all about it,” he said, his voice rough as gravel.

“Mondo has a big mouth. I don’t need protection. I can handle the problem myself. That the only reason you’re here?” she asked, continuing to fondle herself.

For those of you that know me... and those that don't this is my little statement about short books.... I do not judge short stories on the rush of their relationships, because they are just that - short stories. So, yes the relationships always could have been drawn out more, yea it seems like they fall in love to fast and of course the story could have been made longer... but it is a short story. So with that said.... here is my review...

I am not new to the works of Ms. KT Grant, she is a very talented woman. Her work - which I love her f/f work - is very detailed and thorough and invigorating. She writes the f/f so well, that you know without a doubt that it is truly female loving females. Chelsey and Daisy's story is rich with details. 

Daisy is a princess... Or was a princess. Her family had been run out of their country and her family had to find refuge in any welcoming country that would take them in. Still above the simple people because of their bloodline, they still had servants and maids and stable workers. Her lifestyle was of high quality and leisure things... She had all she ever wanted, all she could have... but the one thing that she desired the most was forbidden to her because of what others would think... She wanted a person that Daisy knew in her heart and soul was meant to be for her even though she had never been with a woman... Daisy knew that her passion would lie with Chelsey... Would Chelsey feel the same way...

Chelsey was a few years older than Daisy... but that did not stop Chelsey from doing the bidding of Princess Daisy. She would do anything for that woman. The things you will see Chelsey go through is not a far cry from what a woman of today sometimes has to go through in order to survive. She is a tough but loving woman who only wants the best for the one thing in life that matters the most to her... Daisy.

There will come exploration, their will come giggles and happiness. There will come new sensations, there will come heartache and longing... There will come depression... and more heartache... But the most you will get out of this will be the love that two women share to overcome things that most would have just bowed out.

These two will go through things that make you think they will never find each other again... That their love is a hopeless cause... The longing that Daisy goes through, makes you wonder is it worth it... Then when it all comes together... You will find yourself cheering for the outcome!!!

Now, this is an amazing tale of two women and what they have to go through in order to find their happiness at the end of the story... But I have to put one thing in my review...

There is this one part in the story that was a hiccup for me. See, Daisy felt as if Chelsey was never going to come back for her (you will have to read the story for that reason), she actually thought she was possibly dead. So, with her one true love not coming back.... She took up the proposal from one of the most sort after men of her region... Mr. Humphrey. He is not a nice man. He wants many things, but actual love from or for Daisy is not on list... Her money is. He is a true scoundrel. With that said thought... there is one part in the story, just a line... He has sent his head servant, Stephen to fetch the new maid so he can ease his longing (if you know what I mean).... And Stephens lets us know that the maid he is sent to fetch - is fourteen. That was a little upsetting to me... but I will redeem this by saying that I am thinking that KT did this for a reason - to make me hate Humphrey even more. He comes across as this Mr Wonderful and Charming man when really he is lower than pond scum to me. KT did a great job of allowing my feelings of hate come out for him... SO much so that I wish he caught a disease that would make his pecker fall off! Ha! That would have been a justice to the mankind of women all around! Now, I don't want that to discourage you from reading the story... because that part of the story never went any further than that line, but you are to assume that it was going to happen. Now another thing I want you to remember is the timeline of this story because that might have been deemed "what you did to keep a job" kinda thing.... It does achieve a goal for me... Hating Humphrey even more!

Now I will leave you with the next books in this series! And believe me, I was so glad to see that Daisy's brother and Chelsey first mate, Mister Martin, have their own story... because believe me, the chemistry between these two is in your face and I sooooooooo want to see where that goes! Then she has created another story on Daisy & Chelsey! So, get on board The Lady Desire and see where this story takes you!
