Review: Crazy for Love by Victoria Dahl

Crazy For Love- Available now!
ISBN 9780373774623

Chloe Turner thought she was going to marry the perfect man-until her fiancé's plane crashed. And then she got the really bad news: he'd tried to fake his own death to avoid marrying her. Now America's most famous
bridezilla (a tag she most definitely does not deserve), Chloe escapes to a remote island to avoid the paparazzi. And right next door is a man who just might be the cure for Chloe's heartache....

A magnet for wild, complicated women, Max Sullivan is relieved to have finally found someone "normal." Chloe is his girl-next-door fantasy come to life, and best of all, she gets him. With her, he can be himself, a treasure-hunting millionaire who desperately wants out of his sexy but reckless job. But when Chloe's notoriety catches up with them, will their torrid romance make it to the mainland?

I obtained the above information from Ms. Dahl''s website...

I received this book from Ms. Emma over at Harlequin for review purpose. The thoughts and words are strictly my own.

Let me start off by saying this is my first Victoria Dahl book. Her voice was very refreshing in the contemporary world. This is an adorable, delightful book. Her characters are real to the core and their situations are just as real.

Chloe is your average, normal, girl-next-door. She is in the time of her life, she is getting married! Or this should have been. Um yeah, before the wedding, her finance went flying ~ no big deal right... Except that his plane crashed. Well, that was not that bad part ~ really it gets a little worst. He umm... uummm.. he faked his own death. Plane crashing, Chloe could deal with. I mean life is cruel like that. It would be hard, but she would be okay. I mean it did rock Chloe's world. But if her world was not rocked enough... The media has dubbed her the Bridezilla ~ a title she does not deserve!

How would that make you feel that the man that was supposed to be madly in love with you faked his own death - not to marry you? Kinda crappy huh. Well, Chloe's best friend, Jenn, jumped in to save the "week." Taking Chloe on a vacation, to ease her mind a bit while things kinda blew over. At least until the trial. What are best friends for, right?

Well, this is one trip that Chloe will never forget. A week of no paparazzi, no phones ringing off the hook by reporters, no nothing... just peace, quiet and the beach! Ohhh and the two hottest neighbors two women could ask for!! Enter Max and Elliot Sullivan ~ brothers at that.

Chloe just wants this all to go away, but the logical side of her knows that it won't go anywhere soon. But a trip she could use. A week away, a week of peace before the storm. A storm that was going to turn her life upside down... instead she walked into a hurricane. Max came into her life and threw everything in chaos.

This is a great book! Ms. Dahl sucked me in the story and did not release me till the last page. I stayed up all night reading just to see what happened. The good, the bad, the ugly ~ the learning, the leaning, the learning to lean and the learning about yourself. This book has it all. The action, the romance, the great comebacks, the friendships and the heartaches. Ms. Dahl pulls at all your heart strings with this novel. This book will definitely make you think you are Crazy For Love!

More On Polar Bears..... Arctic Shift by Lissa Matthews

For those of you that are a little scare of the polar bear thing.... I found this excerpt at Ms. Lissa's website... And I had to share... You know... To spread the love around for Polar Bears!!!!

It is out today... To see just a glimpse... Here is my Promo post for this amazing book!

It is OUT TODAY!!!!!!!!

Excerpt from Arctic Shift

Ruby stretched. Or rather she tried to stretch. She was tied down. No, her arms were free. She was held down. No, that wasn’t right either. She was held, but not down. Against. She was held against a body, a very big, very aroused body from the feel of it. His arms were big and tight as bands of steel, and the heat coming from him was hotter than anything she’d ever felt. It seeped through her pajamas and into her skin, warming her from the outside in and vice versa. She hadn’t ever been so warm and, odd as it seemed with a strange man in her hotel bed, she liked it. A lot.

She liked his smell too. Like the outdoors. Like crisp air and woods. She—

The strange man part finally kicked in, and she started fighting to get free. She pushed at the arms, at the legs, at the chest at her back. He didn’t budge. She couldn’t even turn over to see him, to poke him in the eye, to knee him in the balls. Hmmm…could she bend her leg enough to reach his crotch with her foot?

“If you’ll hold still, I’ll let go.”

Ruby froze. She didn’t even breathe. His arms loosened as his voice reverberated through her body. It was deep, as warm as his body, oddly familiar and for a second she panicked at the thought of losing that incredible heat.

“Just let me turn around, please.” She hadn’t meant to say that, but she found that she’d meant it. She just wanted to see him, to see the man that went with the voice, with the body, with some thoughts, some memory she couldn’t quite recall. She wasn’t scared, and she would definitely be giving herself a talk about that later. For the moment though, she just needed to see him.

“Not gonna unman me, are you?”

There was humor in that dark, coffee tone that she wanted to drink in for the foreseeable future. “No, I’m not.”

“Okay.” His arms loosened a bit, just enough that she could roll over.

Her breath caught in her throat, and she started to turn away again. He was unlike any man she’d seen before, except… “Oh wow.”

“What wow?”

“You. You’re beautiful and…naked. In my hotel room. In my bed, in my hotel room. Naked.” She tried pulling away from him, but he only tightened his arms around her again effectively pinning her against his body.

“Don’t fight me, Ruby. Please.”

She didn’t want to fight him and as soon as he asked her not to, she stilled. She wanted to sink into his body and stay there forever, but she managed to wedge her arms between them and push against his chest with her hands. It didn’t do much good. His touch, his presence was comforting in a way she couldn’t explain. Her fingers simply curled into the soft hair beneath them, and she marveled at the strength of the heart that beat there. Adding in the fact that he was gorgeous didn’t hurt. Men that looked like him didn’t look her way, much less climb into bed with her.

At least she thought he was gorgeous. Hoped he was. It made the fact of him being naked in her bed better somehow.
She must be jet lagged or something. She shouldn’t be able to justify him being there in any way, shape or form. Could be she was still a little dazed from the dream she’d had. It seemed awfully real, and she could swear she felt the ache in her body from his handling and taking of her, but she knew that was just a figment of her imagination. Still….

That was all beside the point for the moment though… “How do you know my name? And why shouldn’t I fight you? I don’t know you.”

“You are the woman needing someone to take you into the forest, correct? Looking for your sister?”

“Yes. So?”

“So I’m the someone. I’m going to take you. Marsha said she she’d call Carson when you checked in, right?”

“Uh huh.”

“Shall I formally introduce myself? Hi Ruby. I’m Carson. A pleasure to meet you.”

And he kissed her.

Tightened his arms around her and nuzzled her face up with his in a strangely intimate gesture and planted a scorching kiss to her surprised yet welcoming mouth. His tongue met hers and when she didn’t pull back or object, he pressed the advantage, taking the kiss deeper, rolling her onto her back, and insinuating himself between her legs. They parted without her permission and wrapped around his back as he continued the assault on her mouth, her lips.

When he slowly slid his tongue away from the grip her teeth had on it and looked down at her, she tried hard to focus on his features, but couldn’t take her eyes off his mouth, wanting it back again.

“There’s something wrong with me,” she whispered, touching his face gently with the tips of her fingers, tracing the lips that had just ravished hers.

“Why?”

His breath was more than warm against her skin and her fingers tingled. “I’m not this person.”

“What person?”

Ruby pushed at him and set her feet back to the mattress. He let go of her and knelt up on his knees between her open legs. She then pushed herself up and hugged her knees to her chest, shielding herself from his gaze. Even though she couldn’t make his features out clearly, she had the feeling he could see everything about her as though it were bright as day inside the room instead of so dimly lit.

“I’m not the person that just accepts a stranger being in bed with me when I clearly remember going to sleep alone.”

“I Understand that. Would it help if I told you you’re my woman and in bed together is where we’re supposed to be?”

Review: ARC Cruel Enchantment by Anya Bast

CRUEL ENCHANTMENT
A Dark Magic Novel
Berkley Sensation
ISBN-10: 0425236374
ISBN-13: 978-0425236376
Release Date: September 7, 2010

Even the most powerful hands need a delicate touch…

Emmaline Gallagher is a master of wielding personal glamour. As a free fae who lives among humans, she must hide her true self at all times as she works undercover within the powerful Phaendir—for if certain factions within the Phaendir gain control, the fae will be wiped from existence. Now, an object of fae power lies within a locked ancient box. And there is only one fae who can forge the key.

Known as “the Blacksmith” Aeric O’Malley can create or destroy almost anything with his forging skills. Emmaline has come to him in need, but he and Emmaline have a past—and he has spent centuries wanting to take revenge on her for her transgressions. But now that he has her within his grasp, something about her keeps him from exacting his vengeance—or is it merely her glamour blinding him?

Trapped by fate, Emmaline must hope that she can reach Aeric’s furious heart before it’s too late…

I obtained the above information from Ms. Anya's website ->> here!

I received this book from the author review. The words and thoughts are strictly my own.

This is the second installment in Dark Magick serie and I can say without a shadow of doubt that Ms. Anya has rocked my world yet again with another awesome tale!

Emma is a woman with a lot of things not going her way. Life has dealt her a pretty crappy hand, but I admire the woman she become. She made the best of what she could with the cards that she was dealt. Her parents died when she was around ten. Leaving her to fin for herself. Until the Summer Queen took her in. Only it was not from the warmth of the Summer Queen's heart to do this. The Summer Queen knows no warm and fuzzy feelings. She is quiet the opposite to her title. Anything but warm. In the Seelie Court, the Summer Queen turned Emma into an assassin, her personal assassin. The job Emma was created for, she excelled in it. Excelling so well that she pissed off more than a few people....

One of those people being Aeric... the Blacksmith of the Unseelie Court. He wields weapons laced with his magick for all of his life. A man Emma fell in love with since the day she laid eyes on him ~ way back when. Emma knew that his heart belonged to Aileen, but she still cared for him. Aeric was the type of man to give one hundred percent. He did nothing half-ass. It was all or nothing for him and his love to Aileen was just that. He gave her everything. Even though he has a few doubts in the back of his mind about her and her past. He overlooked them and loved her for all she was worth. But one day that all changed, with one arrow... Aeric's world was turned upside down...

Three hundred odd years have passed... Emma now lives among the humans. On the outside of the walls of Piefferburg. Her cause now changed... no longer an assassin. Now she is working with an organization for Human for the Freedom of the Fae (HFF). Trying to free the fae. Her mission to go back inside the gates of Piefferburg and get a key made... Simple enough right. Wrong, the only person that can make the key ~ the Blacksmith. Three hundred years and she still loved him and Aeric still hated her.

This couple rocked my world. Emma is a woman who made me very proud. She owned up to her mistakes, she knew that her past would always follow her, condemn her... She knew that the mission was more important that herself. She was willing to give up all that she has left for the better cause of the fae people, her people. It was amazing to take the journey with Emma through her true past and her present. To see the things she had to endure that no one else ever knew to become the woman was today. The events and occurrences from Emma's past would have broke a regular person, broke them so hard they probably would not have survived it. But she did. And Aeric was a man on a mission of destruction. By all means, he wanted Emma dead for taking what was his. But when he learns of all of Emma's past secrets, strips her bear and goes beyond the glamour, he sees the true Emma. The one who is afraid, whose heart is bigger than most, who's soul is in need of healing.

Can two wrongs makes a right? Can one forgive and forget the past? Is it truly that easy to walk away and let go of all the strings that bind you to that past? What happens when you don't want the past to be forgotten? But what happens when you learn that things are not really what they seem? Can love truly be blind and over come all?

This story is truly a hate/love relationship. There was no simple solution to this story. If you want to read a vanilla kinda story, do not pick this up... However, if you want a book that will make you pray for love, hope to be forgiven, dream to live another day ~ then please read this one. But be warned with every side, there is the side you don't want to know about. The side where there is pleasure in the pain inflicted on others, by the hands of others. Ms. Anya gives you a story complete with the things that nightmares are made out of. This is not a story to scare you, no... this is a story to see all the dynamics of what powerful people are capable of doing.

The story building is absolutely phenomenal. Ms Anya leaves nothing out to the imagination when it comes to describing the world of the fae. She holds no barred when it comes to making sure you know your surroundings, you know the people and you know their land. You know it as your own backyard. The relationships, Ms Anya, gives you the hero and heroine's story. But what I truly enjoy is that Ms. Anya keeps the family/friends together in this series. Each book is about a different hero/heroine... but the group as a whole is still brought forward!

If you have not indulged into the world of The Dark Magick, I insist that you do. This is an awesome series that Ms. Anya has created. Bringing light to two people who would have never come together if it were not for the greatest cause of their people. Their love and devotion for what they believe in shines through. With these two people the truth was always what was important. Emma and Aeric... well.. come with me on this journey and find out for yourself just what a kick-ass heroine and a bad-ass blacksmith can accomplish together! I promise you a ride all the way to the end!

Ms. Anya did a fan-flipping-tastic job at creating another stealer of a book! The world she enveloped me in was all I could have imagined and more. It was breathtaking as it was heartbreaking. It was pain, while there was pleasure. It was soul shattering as it was soul searching. This book was truly a Cruel Enchantment of piece of work. Ms Anya ~ wonderful job! Simply spell bounding!

Calling All Peeps in the Surrounding Area

We are fortunate to have Heather Graham back this year for another convention and book signing in New Orleans, Louisiana!!!
It will be held again at the wonderful Hotel Monteleone!

And finally after the first Blogger Meet and Greet we did back a couple of months ago...
Patti from Book Addict and I are going to meet up again (with Hannah!)
and try to get others to join in the fun!

I stole this from Patti ~ Book Addict's place:

Author Heather Graham hosts a yearly author workshop here in New Orleans over Labor Day Weekend - Writers for New Orleans. This year, a few bloggers have decided to meet using this event as an excuse (like we need an excuse, right?). I don't know where most of you Book Bloggers hail from, but if you're anywhere near New Orleans, why don't you think about coming in over Labor Day weekend? The loose plan is to meet for dinner and drinks Saturday night (location to be determined) and maybe have coffee or brunch before the 11:30 book signing at the Hotel Monteleone.

The schedule of events can be found here. Some of the authors attending thus far are:
Helen A. Rosburg
Heather Graham aka Shannon Drake
L. A. Banks
Corrine De Winter
Silver James
J. A. Konrath
Lisa Mannetti
Michael Meeske
Linda Conrad
Mary Sella
F. Paul Wilson
Kate Poole
Harley Jane Kozak
Kathleen Pickering
Tina Wainscott aka Jaime Rush
Kathy DePalo

You can bring your own books and they'll have books for purchase as well. Hey - it's a 3-day weekend, think about coming, it's going to be fun! If you can't come Saturday night for dinner (and drinks!), just come for the signing on Sunday or vice versa...

So, if you are around us and would like to meet up,

Review & Giveaway: ARC Maybe This Time by Jennifer Cruise

Due out August 31st, 2010

The Story

When Andie Miller goes to see her ex-husband, North Archer, to return ten years of uncashed alimony checks, he asks for one final favor: A distant cousin has died and left him guardian of two orphans who have driven out three nannies already; will she take the job? Bribed with money and a need for closure, Andie says yes, but when she meets the two children she realizes things are much worse than she feared. The children aren’t any run-of-the-mill delinquents, the creepy old house where they live is being run by the worst housekeeper since Mrs. Danvers, and something strange is happening at night. Plus, Andie’s fiance thinks it’s a plan by North to get Andie back, and since Andie’s been dreaming about North since she arrived at the house, she’s not sure he isn’t right. Then her ex-brother-in-law arrives with a duplicitous journalist and a self-doubting parapsychologist, closely followed by an annoyed medium, Andie’s tarot card–reading mother, her avenging ex-mother-in-law, and her jealous fiancé. Just when Andie’s sure things couldn’t get more complicated, North arrives to make her wonder if maybe this time things could be different….

I obtained the above information from Ms. Jennifer Cruise's web site.
I was given this book for review purposely only. All thoughts are strictly my own.

Andie and North have been divorced for ten years. They have not seen each other since that fateful day that Andie walked on North with his lover ~ his job and told him she was leaving. Being cheated on with another person is one thing, but being cheated on with something you cannot compete with is devastating to the soul. So Andie did what she did best... she packed up her stuff and ran. And she kept running until she met a man she fell in love with... Or at least she thought that was the man she was in love with.

Fast forward ten years and Andie is in the process of "out with the old and in with the new." She was being asked for her hand in marriage by Will. But before she said yes, she felt she had to clear the air with North ~ or at least that is what she told herself.

What do you do when you think the magic has gone, withered away... died? What do you do when you see that that love is a once in a lifetime thing and the chance you thought you blew ~ you may have that chance again? Do you take the chance knowing there is a high probability that your heart will break again, do you walk in knowing you are doomed because of the past you shared together? Well... let's find out what happened with Andie and North.

North was left with two orphaned children ~ Alice and Carter. He knows they need special help and he knows just the person capable of giving them what they need ~ Andie. They have been through three nannies and North was running out of ideas when the idea came to him... literally. The only thing North did not count on what how much Andie needed those kids.

This is an amazing story of woman discovering herself all over again ~ ten years later. And I will promise that you will fall in love with these kids. Alice and Carter touched my heart and made me want to take them home with me. I am not a big fan of stories with children in them because then I do not feel like I have escaped my world... but Ms Cruise did a fan-freaking-tastic job of making me fall in love with those kids and brought out the Mama Bear in me. I wanted to smite the housekeeper and the other ghosts that were in that house.

This is a romance story, but it is also a journey into the heart and soul of a woman finding herself in her world. There are a few hot scenes in this novel that had my fingers burning up. This was a very edge of my seat kinda book. Ms Cruise did a fabulous job with crafting the tale of one woman, two men and a bunch of other crazy people. I laughed, I teared up, I even wanted to dance around in my house and bake banana nut bread! This story is a very riveting read! I suggest it for anyone who wants a romance story... with a hint of crazies in (enough to make you giggle).. a story that will make you check your liquor cabinets... a story that will make you want to literally want to push that person over the damn edge of the railing... and most of all... this is a story that will make you see those second chances are not all that bad... and well.. Maybe This Time around it is the real thing!

Please feel free to go visit Ms. Cruise's web site ->> here.

Review: All I Ever Wanted by Kristan Higgins

ALL I EVER WANTED

HQN Coming August 2010

One happily-ever-after rocking chair…

And no sign of any forthcoming babies to rock in ol’ Georgebury, Vermont. For Callie Grey, turning thirty means coming to grips with the fact that her boss (and five-week fling) is way overdue in his marriage proposal. And way off track, because Mark has suddenly announced his engagement to the company’s new Miss Perfect. If that isn’t bad enough, her mom decides to throw her a 3-0 birthday bash in the family funeral home.

Bad goes to worse when she stirs up a relationship with the town’s most eligible — yet not so warm and fuzzy — veterinarian, Ian McFarland, in order to flag Mark’s attention. So Ian’s more comfortable with animals… So he’s formal, orderly and just a bit tense. The ever-friendly, fun-loving and spontaneous Callie decides it’s time for Ian to get a personality makeover. But, dang — if he doesn’t shock the heck out of her, she might actually fall for Vermont’s unlikeliest eligible bachelor…

I obtained the above information from Ms. Kristan Higgins website (here).
I was given this book for review purpose only... So the thoughts are strictly my own.

Callie, short for Calliope, is a delightful woman. She is normal (talks to herself ~ yeah I consider that normal cuz I do it), average size (she is perfect to me) and above all else ~ hilarious! Her family is as dysfunctional as it gets ~ her older sister is a fertility doctor with two adopted daughters, her younger brother is a lost college student who loves women, probabably a little too much and is lost in every other sense of the word but a genius. Her mother and father have been divorced since Callie was eight because her father cheated on her mother. Her mother runs the family business (on her family side) which happens to be a funeral home (which they lived in as a family as they were growing up) and her father is now retired. Callie lives with her grumpy old grandfather... who is such a grump he is character all on his own.

Callie works at an advertising and publishing agency that she kinda helped build from the ground up with her boss Mark. Who also happens to be the man of her dreams. They have known each other ever since high school and she has loved him ever since too. With a slight problem... he told her the timing was not right. Can you spell O-U-C-H. Oh and let me mention she is turning the big 3-0 as a woman, we all know what that means... you start looking at your life a little different ~ family, marriage, kids, your life... living with your grandfather and not on your own...

This is book is a very good read. This is a romance novel, so there is no smut in this book. The revelation is that I fell in love with this book. Ms. Higgins is a new to me author and I will be looking at more of her writings.

Callie is a woman of today. She knows that for every good side, there is a down side. She knows that there are two sides of herself ~ the Beep Bop side of her... lusty and sexy and the Michelle Obama side... the one that is logical, keeps her head on straight. But the thing that struck me the most about Callie was being a real woman, a people person, she like pleasing people. Some would call her a ray of sunshine. And sometimes not in a good way, lol. But everyone loved her. Some just not in the way she wanted. Out of all of her life though, she had one treasured gem... a rocker. Not just any rocker... it was Happily Ever After chair. That just touched my heart and warmed my soul. She was me, my sister, my best friend...

This book made me laugh, cry, made me want to kick a certain guy in the nuts and slap the other one at times. It made me want to kiss my mother, hug my father and sit a spell with my grandparents. But most of all, it made me fall in love.

We get to watch Callie figure out love, lust and the happily ever after part. We get to watch love bloom, heartache heals, best friends stick together. We get to see love in all the odd places and a family come together. This is an amazing tale of one woman determined to have her happily ever after.

And on a side note, I will say that I love the cover because it is sooo fitting to the book!!!

ARC Review: The Beast Within ~ Jennifer Lyon

This book is written by three marvelous authors...

Erin McCarthy, Bianca D'Arc and Jennifer Lyon

I will be reviewing Jennifer's section of the book.... Right now. This is an ARC I received from Jennifer Lyon.

“Redeeming The Wizard” by Jennifer Lyon

Gage Remington was once a powerful wizard; now he’s a recluse who keeps the world at bay. But when Mira Tate arrives at Gage’s door, she stirs in him an attraction he can’t deny. Soon, Gage will risk everything to keep Mira close—even the secret that may be his ruin…

I obtained the above information from Jennifer's web site (here).

Oh gosh, this is an amazing story. So amazing that I read it in one night... Yea, as in a few hours. I could not put down... I think my house could have been on fire and I would have not moved. This story rocks apples.

I mean you have Mira ~ a woman who is not afraid to stab a troll in the eyes with her keys, Gage ~ a wizard who's magic has kinda fried, some master wizard fighting to the death, some ugly as hell trolls, hot sex flash-jumping, a match maker granny... oh and did I mention that Gage is also a Sex on Stick kinda man... this story has it all!

Mira has lost her parents when she was a little girl. Both of them... Now some wizard has taken the only person that loves her for herself ~ her Grandmother. Mira is a magic-blind, she has no magic in her system to save her life. Everyone else around her... of course has magic. The only person/wizard to help her find her Gram... is the only wizard she holds responsible for the death of her parents. Oh joy, doesn't that just make you want to jump up and down for joy! Can a wizard be redeemed? Do you believe in second chances?

Gage has became a reclusive wizard after the death of Mira's parents. Scaring off any human to come onto his property and slaying any demons/trolls that appear on his land as well. He protects the people of his town and they are very thankful... but they do not know the full depth of how he really protects and serves his community. A magic-born, he is a rare breed... so you can imagine that everyone would want a piece of him. And Gage is not just a little wizard with some skills... he is a Master Wizard.... Oh yeah... bad ass... Well, except that he had fallen in lust for an apprentice he had taken under his wing that he should not have; because she wanted him alright... she wanted his power... to raise a demon. Oh yeah... it gets that good!

This story is a fun, fast read. Hot and steamy. Action packed and demented all rolled in one. Mari and Gage make this story come alive. There is never a dull moment! I can not stress how much of an awesome quick read this was!!! And believe me... you will fall in love with these characters...

Can finding the answers to a past heal a heart and soul? Is love enough to save the soul of a fried wizard?? How magical is love? Can a missing Gram's love for her granddaughter be enough to save her heart?

On a last note, one of my many favorite parts of this story is when Gage refers to Mira as kitty... Oh, I am not telling ~ but you know I am good for a tease though!! So, I will share this quote:
" "What about this, kitty," He ran his fingers up the inside of her thighs. "I'm going to need to know how --"...
..." He whispered roughly-- "you feel about petting. The kind of petting that makes my kitty purr."

Oh yeah... you need to read this one! =) Awesomely delicious is this book!!!! Ms. Jennifer ~ you rock freaking apples!!!!!

Jude Mason and Jenna Byrnes' Blog Tour – Day Five!

Hi everyone! Our blog tour rolls on and we'd like to thank Cecile for hosting us here today. All week long we're talking to readers about our latest project together, book 3 in the Kindred Spirits series, Alex's Appeal, which is available now from Total E-Bound!

Yesterday at P.A. Brown's blog we shared some information about writing this one. Today, we've saved a steamy little excerpt for Cecile and her readers!

Kindred Spirits Book 3: Alex's Appeal

By Jude Mason and Jenna Byrnes

Lawyer Alex Brookfield arrives at Whiskers' Seaside Inn with a big decision weighing heavily on him. He's been offered a judgeship, and while it's an incredible promotion, it would mean leaving the house he shared with his late, long-time partner. Russ died of cancer eight months ago, and although Alex is ready to move on, he isn't sure about such a big, permanent step.

Logan Emerson is the inn's chef, and wouldn't mind cooking up something special with the handsome attorney. He's not concerned about their fourteen year age difference. He just knows what he likes and isn't afraid to go after the hunky bear of a man.

Alex heard stories about the inn's ghosts from its owner, his friend and former lover Ethan Roberts. But he's totally unprepared for the spirit who shows up his first night there. Between futile attempts to fend off the frisky young cook, and his offer to help inn co-owner Cade Wyatt come up with a romantic marriage proposal for Ethan, Alex finds his hands, and his bed, quite full.

Excerpt:

“How about a club sandwich? Ham, turkey and some fresh bacon.” Logan turned around, his arms full of foodstuffs.
Alex’s gaze automatically dropped to the man’s crotch. There wasn’t an erection, but a very nicely shaped bulge outlined in the thin material. He gulped, feeling his own cock thicken and lengthen.
“What do you think? A club sandwich okay?” Logan prodded.
Focus. “Oh, yeah. Sure.”
The cook set the food on the counter and went back for more. “You like the works, tomato, lettuce, mayo?”
Alex shifted from one foot to the other uncomfortably. When he’d entered the kitchen, he had nothing but food on his mind. Logan’s playful teasing had surprised him. Now it was all he could think about.
“Hey, Counsellor, are you with me?”
“What?” Alex shook his head, chasing away seductive images of the sexy stud bent over, grabbing for his ankles. He blinked and stared at the vegetables in Logan’s hands. “Yeah, sure, whatever you think.”
With a soft chuckle, Logan set to work preparing the sandwich. When the timer went off, he removed the cookies from the oven and set them aside to cool.
More bending and stretching. Alex’s eyes were glued to the handsome, lithe man, and all thoughts of distracting himself fled. Might as well humour my libido with a little fantasy.
He moved behind Logan and placed a hand at either side of him on the counter. “You mentioned a little something kinky?”
Logan pressed his back against Alex and exhaled a warm sigh. “Oh, yeah. I was hoping you’d see things my way.”
One of Alex’s fingers traced the edge of the mixing bowl, gathering some of the sticky dough. He circled Logan’s ear, dragging the finger across the lobe and kept right on going over his neck. Alex’s mouth followed, licking and sucking the sugary substance from Logan’s slightly salty skin.
“Mmm,” he murmured, his tongue darting inside the ear and over the lobe. “Tastes good.”
“God, yes.” Logan shuddered as Alex continued his ministrations. “I’d love to paint your cock with the stuff and lick you clean.”
Chuckling, Alex shoved his groin against Logan’s ass. “You’re assuming I have that much patience. I had something different in mind for my cock, like burying it in your sweet, tight ass.”
Logan nodded and groaned at the same time. “Yes, yes. I’m all for that idea, too. There’s oil on the shelf behind you. Not exactly the right stuff, but I’ve found it works in a pinch.”
“Oh, you have?” Alex pressed Logan’s body against the counter, his mouth still savouring every bit of sweetness from the man’s tasty neck. “Do you let many people fuck you in your kitchen after hours?”
“No,” Logan answered quickly. “But I want you to. I’ve wanted it since the minute I laid eyes on you. You’re exactly the kind of man I’ve always dreamed about.”
“You’re the man of my dreams, too, sweet cheeks. Now bend over, and let me get a look at you.”
Logan obliged, clinging to the counter as Alex did the work of lowering his shorts and boxers. Alex dropped to his knees and buried his face between Logan’s ass cheeks.
Warm, firm and tight, exactly what Alex expected. He inhaled the man’s arousing, masculine fragrance before prying the cheeks apart and tasting the rosebud hole. More delicious than anything from a bowl, Alex dipped his tongue deeper and groaned with pleasure when Logan’s sphincter loosened and allowed him in. He tongued the orifice, until his own throbbing cock became too much to ignore.
